i think you're thinking of Ja Rule, he rented a house from a lady showed it on cribs and she sued him.

I dont know, but I'm sure there are plenty of them who do it too. Some of them come out with 1 hot single and next thing you know they got this big mansion. These music artist dont even make that much money on their fisrt album, yes they may sell 5 million or so records, but they don't see that money, they only get a portion of that money. Because everyone who invested in them has to get paid back, I've also heard when a artist comes out or even known artist today, the record label buy about 500,000 copies or sometimes even more just so their artist can hit the charts. Alot of these artist dont become a millionaire until their 2nd album or until they create their own label and pick up their own arrtist, so when their artist drop, they get rich off of them and this cycle continues over and over again. So alot of them rapper AND other musicians rent out those mansions you see on TV. You can also tell by their body language, like I was watching the episode with Slim Thug, you could tell that was NOT his house, because when people own something like that, they flaunt it and give you a tour top to bottom, in and out, Slim Thug was walking around the house looking like a real estate agent, his whole vibe was off to me... That also goes for the cars as well, Alot of them be faking it

I never heard of that but go to MTV Cribs.com and it talks about an English guy that said he owned his house but didn't. He was just renting it.
