My ex and I sorted out an agreement with regards to our son's maintenence payments. Neither of us saw the point in going through the CSA when we could sort it out between oursleves amicably. Forgive my ignorance on this issue but is this ok? do we need to declare this to any agency or office? I don't really know how it all works. We are both working full time and the only benefit I recieve is child benefit.

Hurrrrraaaaaayyyy!

No you do not need to go to anyone. If you and your ex have agreed amicably it a great thing! Once you get the CSA involved there is no going back and it can cause more problems than you can ever believe! The CSA should have been abolished many years ago!

I think you are a fabulous lady, who obviously cares more about your children than money!

Wish there were more women like you around :) x x x

i have the same problem hun, not much u can do about it apart from report him for benefit fraud for which he might get a custodial sentence. they really do take it seriously, they'll follow him n see where he goes, who he works 4, etc... they'll probably stop his benefit but then he'll either go 2 prison or carry on working (obviously legeally). i cant do this 2 my ex as i dont know where he is but i sure as hell would if i knew where he is! all i get is £2.50 taken from his jobseekers allowance! only enough 2 buy a packet of baby wipes, perfect! not! good luck anyway

Hi,Hotgirl,
Hope yahoo gets kind to you again soon.....
I'd check with your local citizens' advice bureau just in case there is some glaring problem you may not be aware of.
When it comes to the CSA,ignorance is not bliss.
Hope everything works out.

You dont have to involve the CSA if you have a private agreement. I dont know though wether or not it would count as income for income tax, as it is unearned income.

not if you arenot claiming benefite. however I think you would be well advised to get this put on a legal footing through courts as ex's can be fine at first but if new gf comes along or more children they start to geta bit iffy about it.
