help.... i have a laptop that i changed the password in a hurry and now i cant remember it. its on a laptop. windows xp and the only account on it is the admin. account. when i goto safe mode it still asks for the password. i dont have a xp cd because i bought it already installed on it. i dont know what else to do.. can i go into dos mode and do something..please help...i changed it to keep my kids off it and now i cant get on :(

When you try safe mode as you have and the Admin account asks for a password:
Simply try:
↓ A blank password
↓ Or type: administrator
Another method is to log on as normal and keep pressing:
Alt + Cntrl + Del
In till an admin disability box pop - up which sould help override the admin status.

If all else fails try something like a live linux boot cd. Here are instructions that will guide you through most of the process. You'll need to download and burn a bootable cdrom.

when u turn ur laptop on keep pressing ' F8' and then it will come up tp a black screen with loaddsa writing. click on the one that say 'safety mode'. and then foloow instructions and go to control panel ether chage ur password or remove- i have done it my self loadsa times

Go to the welcome screen (Or Login Prompt) If you are at the welcome screen, press control+alt+del+del and type in Administrator, if you still cannot log on, call the company that distributed your laptop (e.g. Dell) and request your xp install cd, they will get your info and then ship it to you.
