I have tried to uninstall xp on an older IDM thinkpad to reinstall 98. I have run the recovery cd and there is an error. It didnt seem to run the full uninstall. Now on start up it goes to a memory test every time. When I bypass it it try's to start up xp again. What do I need to do to get past this and fully uninstall xp?

Old computer will does not run well with xp. Not enough mem. Just found out that the person who installed xp used software to partition hd. Tried to do startup on floppy with bootdisk I got off of bootdisk.com still will not work.
