I have nothing against gay people by the way, this is for school. It's for a debate so please don't waste my time saying that it's right and also please don't say no.

It's a matter of forced association. Same reason why gays are allowed to openly serve in the military. The child should be old enough to make that decision for themselves, which can't happen during adoption.

Don't listen to the dweebs.....especially MAE.
Like she's knowledgeable.

I'm an "over the hill" gay male who's been in a monogomous relationship nearly 20 years. We have adopted twice. My 22 year-old daughter is soon to be married....to a man....and she was never teased in school. We made damn sure that would not happen. My 13 year-old daughter is doing fine in school and has tons of friends. We are good friends with most of her friend's parents, who are all straight.

There are no good reasons to be against gay adoption. I know from experience.

As for marriage, there is no good reason to be against it.

It harms nobody else, would protect our assets and would give all people the right to marriage.....equal rights....not special rights.

Good luck in school and with your debate!

.

although i do not believe it, the reasons many list are that a child adopted by gay parents will have a tough life and be made fun of. also many do believe that being gay in general is immoral, therefore they should not be able to commit legally to one another and be responsible to raise a child. my honest opinion is that it's a bunch of crap, that two men or two women who are commited and loving can't be commited to one another and competent to raise an outstanding human being. i feel if children want to make fun of any child they will find a way. having gay parents has nothing to do with it. i think that any person who is capable to financially provide and emotionally for a child should be allowed to do so. many gay parents can provide a home that teaches tolerance, compassion, understanding, honesty and love better than some parents out there.

I believe in equal justice under the law. If the government is going to grant any privileges, large or small, to people when they get married, then the government should not exclude gays from this.

If a religion doesn't want to conduct gay marriage ceremonies, that is fine. Religions can have whatever rules they see fit.

If a person doesn't want to marry someone of the same sex, that's fine too.

Freedom, and equal rights. What a concept!

As to the "God forbids it, end of debate" crowd ... God also forbids working on the Sabbath. So I guess we must close all restaurants, movie houses, sporting events, TV shows, etc. on both Sunday and Saturday. God forbids it!

Duh.

There aren't any.
If a particular religion forbids it then that means the members of that sect shouldn't do it, nothing more.
Studies have shown that children raised in a same sex household are as well-adjusted as their peers and have no more inclination toward same sex relationships than any other child/teen.
Studies have also shown the children that have the most amount of problems both in school and in social adjustment are those raised in a single-parent setting.

Yes. It goes against what is natural for humans. If gay people adopt children, they raise the child to believe that being gay is okay, when it is abnormal. It is not the way that God intended man and women to replenish the earth. You need a man and a woman to accomplish this which is the natural way that is right.

Against gay adoption - children need male and female role models, and these are most likely to be the parents. This is especially important for boys since (at least in Britain) there are very few male primary school teachers.

Personally, though, I think children will find role models if they need them and it's better to be in a loving family, whatever the gender of the parents, than in care.

I don't have anything against gays either but the only reason they want to be married is to get the benefits of the normal married couple like lower insurance rates and better tax breaks. Other than that, there is no logical reason they need to marry when living together is the same thing.

As for the adopting of a child, I don't think it right due to it might cause what might be a normal/straight child into becoming gay and that would be the same as forcing a gay person into a life of straight sex. It's just not right to influence people like that. It should be their own decision.

Nobody has good reasons against it.

*looks up at preacher* that only goes for your religion, we are talking about everyone. Not everyone believes in your god.
