yeah i'm in the middle of a children's fantasy novel right now. I'm not really that bothered about getting it published, i just think the acomplishment is going to be ....WOW!

Writing a book is one of those things that i'll regret doing if i dont actually do it!!

It's hard sometimes though...when we all lead such busy lives...wouldnt you just love to give up work and write?!!

I read this great tip...try and write for at least half an hour every day, apparently after a while you train your brain to concentrate for that half an hour and produce stuff that would normally take you a couple of hours. Kind of cool for the workers amongst us!

Yes, me!
I'd agree with Terry Pratchett's assertion that writing is the most fun anyone can have on their own and he's afraid someone will find out how much fun he has and stop him.
I'd recommend Julia Cameron's books on creativity, The Artists' Way and Walking in this World as they give very useful and inspiring tips for kickstarting the creative process and keeping it rolling through the dry spells. I'd also reiterate the advice someone else has given about writing for a set amount of time each day. I set myself a 1000 word target for every day and usually I find that I go way over it; that way even at a 1000 words a day, it only takes about 3-4 months to get something down and you keep up the momentum. Antony Trollopp wrote this way, for an hour each morning before work and clocked up an amazing amount of words as a result. Stephen King also works every day when he's on a novel.
