how can i open MPG files with WMP not with Quicktme?

Question

how can i open MPG files with WMP not with QuicktmePlayer.
everytime i download MPG file it automaticcaly start with quick time.
I want it to be by WMP ,
please help.

Change the file association. Right click on the mpg file and go to 'Open with' then pick the program you want to open it with.

a few things: 1) the file is corrupted 2) the file is incomplete 3) its not really and MPG file (just a file renamed to have the .mpg extension)

if you load up Windows media player and go to the tools menu, options, then change the to the tab that says File types on the top row, Then find MPG on the list and make sure the box is ticked with no shadow, if it has shadow behind the tick, just retick the box and the shadow will go and MPG Files will open with Windows media player

open the player - go into options - set it to be your default player
click apply - click ok (with WMP you might have to go into format section and add quick time format to play in there as well)

and open the other player - go into options - uncheck the default player box (same goes in here too with the format - you may have to uncheck the mpg format - this way it won't open any mpg files automatically)
click apply - click ok
