I have tried Virus scan, no virus detected. I tried all the "help" from the help section. I rebooted, disconnected all devices, turned it off at the power source. When I start in safe mode, my husbands profile and Administrator are available, however mine is not. We normally use mine for everything. We upgraded our memory from 128 to two sticks of 512 each about a month or so ago. The computer has been running fine since. My husband was on the internet last night when I went to bed and is at work now, so I don't know what may have happened. When I tried to boot up this morning, Windows XP acts like it's starting then takes me to a page that gives me options of starting in Normal mode, safe mode, etc. The only ones that work are the safe mode options. How does this affect my PC and what I can do?

What "threat-free mode" is really is a version of living house windows ninety 8. If it would not go by each and every of the drivers in a life like era of time, you've a countless problem. you'll favor your living house windows XP setting up disk to remedy it. commence off like you've been going to position in living house windows for the first time. you ought to work out a blue reveal with white textual content. it truly is going to ask you what do you want to do? deploy, or use the fix console? you'll favor to apply the fix console to "restoration" living house windows XP. If it places you in a DOS reveal, form "chkdsk /p" there is an section in the previous the /. And hit enter. enable this run, after examine disk has run form in "go out" . eliminate the living house windows disk and boot frequently. this can restoration any corrupt archives contained in the living house windows O.S. devoid of you dropping any files or your classes. This merely works with a living house windows XP setting up form disk, no longer with the computing gadget producer's fix disk. That disk WILL erase each and every thing on the hardchronic and replace it with what change into initially on your computing gadget once you acquire it.

you can open it in safe mode
once it opens to the desktop (you may notice that the desktop items may appear bigger)
right click on the background then click on Properties (a window will pop up called Display Properties)
- click on the Settings tab
- slide Screen resolution over to the size of your monitor - click apply
- adjust Color quality (you may have to reset this again once you've rebooted/restarted) - click apply
- click OK
it should ask if you want to restart your computer now - click yes
if it doesn't ask - you should restart your computer

once restarted - if the desktop icons are not what they use to be
go back in to the display properties and play around with the settings described above
