Me & a co worker got a huge raise back in the summer. But because of this my boss told us that we wouldn't be able to get one come January. I don't think it was written in our file because my co worker told me that she got a form last Thursday stating that she was getting a 3% raise (we had our evals a couple of wks ago) & that what we usually get every January. I asked her if she was going to say anything to them & she said no. We have a new boss now & I guess she wasn't aware that we weren't suppose to get one, however I haven't received a form stating that I am getting one. We stay close to each other & I should've already gotten a letter by now. I get paid Monday but I don't want to wait till then. Me & this co worker are the only 2 people that do this job so we are essentially suppose to be making the same. I would like to know if I got a raise also. What should I do? I don't want to ask my boss...should I ask some one in payroll...maybe they'll know. How do I ask this??

some companies treat merit raises and cost of living increases as two seperate issues- so maybe the 3% was a COLA. If that's the case, you should have gotten one too. If it was a merit increase perhaps the new boss sees something in your co-workers performance that's missing in yours (attitude? less effective somehow?) You could go to HR for comfirmation of a raise (or not), but only your boss will be able to explain why you didn't get one, and what you need to do to get one in the future.
