for one- it isn't a hedgehog- it is a groundhog or a woodchuck. Hedgehogs aren't even closely related.

2nd- if you find out- let me know. I am interested in the statistics. I know he only didn't see his shadow on 15 times out of the last 114 years or so.

They said on the news last week that Punksawtawny Phil (however that's spelled!) is right only 37% of the time! That's a cute trick, considering there's only 2 possibilities. Then again, I think if you look up the weather history, it's rare when spring is "right around the corner" in early February, at least in Pennsylvania.

The groundhog is accurate 50%-51% of the time.

I highly doubt that the Hedgehogs shadow is very reliable and it is a "GROUNDHOG" Um yea Ground hog day!!!!!!!!!!!!

a hedgehog is a different animal than a groundhog.
