I don't know much about politics but my uncle whose a Democrat & can't stand Bush said that the Democracts are just asking for a Republican to be put in office since a woman & a black man would have a harder time winning that a white male. Do you agree or do you think that in 2008 we'll make history by having the first woman or black man as the President?

Your uncle is very wise . Although I would vote for any candidate regardless of gender or race, most others will not . You may not like it, but it's the TRUTH .

I have no problem with a black or a woman as President. However, I think that it might just be hype. My prediction is when the smoke clears, John Edwards will be the next President of the United States. With his populist image he will be able to win the nomination, and then beat out the Republican candidate ( who will be nothing more than a sitting duck).

I don't agree with your Uncle. Democrats aren't asking for a Republican!
I see nothing wrong with Hillary or Obama being the next president of the US, not BECAUSE one is a woman and one is black, but because we NEED a Democrat, and a Democrat we WILL get!~

Forget about Sex and forget about Race!!!! That has nothing to do with choosing the best person to lead our Country!! Vote for the most qualified person from all the candidates!!! As far as elections go the U.S. ranks 139th out of 172 other countries that participate in the elections process!!!!

I think now is the perfect time to have a wom,an run, as Bush has turned the country off to Republicans so much, she may have a chance. If Bush hadn't screwed up so badly, I would agree.

A candidates gender and race aren't good reasons to vote for them any more than those are good reasons *not* to vote for them. I'm worried that the media will sidetrack everyone and focus on race and gender instead of the *real* issues.

I think Obama has better chance than Hillary - he doesn't have a scandal-riddled past to deal with.

I think Rudy can beat 'em both.

Your uncle apparently has written off John Edwards despite his credible showing in 2004 and his far more attractive candidacy than Obama or Clinton.

There will only be one Democratic candidate. Your uncle is jumping the gun. Neither Clinton nor Obama has the Democratic nomination yet.
