Sir Alex is building a team for the future. As successful as Larsson has been he can't be in those plans. Effectively he came in to back up Saha and Rooney. If Utd get Torres this summer (that appears to be the plan), then someone will have to go.
I can't even contemplate letting go of Ole and Larsson's contract will be up. So I suspect he'll leave. If however, the Torres deal does not go through then it is possible Larsson might stay on (or be re-signed if the Swedish season is already on the way).

No... Even though he is good but he is old now. United's got many young guns waiting in the wings. There is no point signing him long term. The best I can see ManU does is to extent his loan to the end of the season. Not mentioning, if United wants to sign some one else from another club, they could sign some one a lot younger and with a few more years to play at top level.

United are willing, we'll see if Larsson is.

He didn't go back to Sweden after Barca because he didn't have it to be at a world class team; he went because Sweden is and always well be his home and Helsingborgs (not Celtic, not Barca and not Man Utd) well always be where his heart is.

I would be more then happy if he stayed for good, but he is doubtful to even extent his loan, let alone sign permanently.
