Not to long ago a person posted this question "What do you think? That black history month is racist? If the blacks want equality shouldn't they call themselves Americans and not African American? Should there really be an entire month dedicated to black history when it could just be studied all year long with the rest of American History?"

That really offended me because I'm American but my background is African American and America has changed over the years and now everyone has equally rights and racism in considered illegal, but my question is Why must we keep on talking negative about other race and honestly feel that Blacks deserve Black History Month because our ancestors played a big role in the Change of America and the way that he were treated they deserve it. But everyone has different reasons upon this question but I feel that there is a reason for everything and there is a reason for Black history month

Different people would have a different take on what that person wrote.
I am not a racist, nor do I hate anyone based upon the color of their skin or their nationality, however, I do find it disconcerting that B.H.M. is lauded and praised, yet if someone mentions a White History Month they are called racist.
Consider a few things white people have done: A white man freed the slaves, white men landed on the moon, a white man invented electricity.
Secondly, why did blacks find it necessary to start referring to themselves as "African American?" As you hopefully know, that is a fairly recent occurrence.
My ancestors came from Germany, including my mother, but I do not call myself "German American".
Simply stated, I am an AMERICAN, and always will be.
Not to mention the fact that scientific evidence proves that the first humans came from Africa, so, in reality, we are all African Americans.

Apparently there is a lot of hatred in this world. Unfortunately, hatred will never die. Some people you just wonder if racism and hatred is in their blood because it just comes so naturally to them. Not that Black History Month is just widely celebrated, but if any race wants a month to celebrate their culture, then they need to petition for it, just like our ancestors did. We have fought for every freedom we have and if another race or culture or individual is offended by that, then they need to have a long look in the mirror. We need to congratulate and encourage one another and not tear one another down. I'm sure if any other race wanted a day or a month in celebration, we as Blacks would back them up 100%.

I do not hate any race. As a matter of fact, i have many friends from all different races...

I answered that question. In my answer i proposed that we have an American Indian month.. do you realize what the Indians went through? All races have had to endure something... and i do mean all races. Look it up, read your history books.

Yes, we need to have a black hx month. Like i said, i have no problem with it.

It does need to be remembered.

With that being said, racism lives bc people let it live. Take it for what it's worth.

I am an American with Native American ancestors. I think they should have a Native American history month also. The white men stole the Indians lands then wouldn't allow them to be American Citizens until 1923. How racist is that!

I understand what your saying. I agree. Blacks deserve to get credit for the good they have done for our country. There are instances where life just would not be the same if it weren't for people like Rosa Parks who stood up for herself and others who were too scared to take a stand.
On the other hand..I can see his point of view in a way...how many people would freak out if we had white history month??

I think black history month is a good thing. There is a club at my school called the African American Awareness Club. To me that makes them sound like some disease or somthing, but no one seams to be complaining.

No one should hate any race. I don't get why that exists, it's so hard to believe when I have friends of so many different races who I love so much.
