You know its seems so confusing to me, why are the whites able to be openly atcked and called rasicts but when a black person does something and ANYONE corrects them they are racist? You if the whites had extremist like al sharppten and Jackson the would be censorded by the media as riacist, and they are claiming that they want equal rights, well enough is enough, you have equal trights already wuit crying, all in all it sounds as if they want to be treated a superiour other than equal, what do you think......

PS im am white and not racist.

first of all i just wanted to know where you stand on this and i never staited what side i stood on or sood for that was a question that has come up locally so getting on here and crying saying i am a racist for stating a OBVIOUS double standered is ignorant for you to do, and besides personally i think that they are not trying to be superior but making an obvious separation and once again with double standard why is it tollerated? all of you biggots can shove it and get over your selfs, that is how i feel about that, you cnanot argue with what is in front of you and why would you even try to protect some one that will admit to doing what i just said they where doing, get a job.

And another thing there is a difference in al sharppten and jackson motavaitonally speaking to and oppressed people which you claim, but for some reason the people that claim to be oppressed are the ones that just plain didnt get there way, like a child, and by the way i know not all of the african american race feels that away but gues what dumbass not all whites are in th kkk.

i completely agree, i can be racist we all can, we are all the same no matter what our skin, i think that all in all we can blame the media for all this, i mean sharppten and jackson are by far exmists and thus being rascist but it is the media not the race that are constantly airing them, so yeah we dont hear people up north cyring boohoo why didnt we get checks for our dissaster boohoo or mississippi for that matter, imean we oculd exploit the kkk and make all whites look like trash just as the media has with the blacks making them all look lazy and no good, i dont believe and i believe that media is the root of all racism in america today.

this is true and i'm glad you are taking a stand because it's prevalent in our society and will only get worse since people tend to ignore these issues or are afraid of being labeled racist for opening their mouth. Sharpton is one of the biggest racists.
Did you know there is Black Only Ms America Pageant ? IF the whites did that, dont you think the NAACP would be crawling up their *** in a heartbeat ? What about Black Entertainment Television ? If we had WET dont you think the same thing would happen ? Altho to be fair the blacks are not the only race that is backhanding the whites either. Especially with Mexican domination in America, they are pervading and invading. American citizens are losing jobs because they cannot speak Spanish. Yup what a world we live in. So what are you going to do about it ? I'll help. I'm white and not racist either. Equality for all not just some. The playing field has to be LEVELED out. And if anyone brings SLAVERY into the equation remember this, it's in the past. I never had any slaves, you never had any slaves. Prob no one you ever have known has either been a slave or had a slave so it's not the issue anymore.

PS - black history month ? what the hell is that ?

why do people ask these questions and then put a disclaimer about how they are not racists? you do know that doing that makes you seem more like a racist, right?

Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson are total windbags and nobody takes them seriously....but lets get real here, minorities are still facing an uphill battle in essentially everything they do...i dont think things should be handed to anyone because god knows I worked hard to get where i am today, but what we should take the time to evaluate is the difference between those who can and those who can not instead of what race people are

The problem is that white people who go around giving opinions like Sharpton and Jackson, usually are racists and the ones that dont go around hooting and hollering dont really give a crap either way

besides everyone hates gays so now all the heat is being taken off the racial minorities and being transferred over to the gays.....its great because now the races can live as one and fight the good fight agains the same cause....pitiful gays trying to have equal rights

ive heard plenty of black people use the word ******, but if my faggoty *** called any of them the N-word I'd be sure to get my *** kicked

screw being PC and say whatever the hell you want, whenever the hell you want

Actually I agree with you. I have been in some situations and seen others, where either it's a hispanic or black person calling some white man a 'cracker' or other 'white boy' etc., and this seems perfectly normal. But when someone calls them a '******' or other words/phrases they are called a racist or something along those lines for it. I'm not calling all black or hispanics racists, I'm just saying some people need to think before they talk and actually realize what era it is. And yes there are some white racists out there still and it's very frustrating, but there are racists from every race/nationatility. It's just something we have to put up with. They'll always be there unfortunately, in my opinion.
p.s.: I'm hispanic and hope I don't offend anyone through this answer.

As a black person I can honestly understand your plight. I asked a question earlier on can both black and white people heal from racism? Since it is 2007 I do believe that many black individuals need to internally heal from the torments of slavery and degredation. Not to say this generation has been in slavery, but subconsciouly many use it as a crutch and a scapegoat as to why america is shaped a certain way. We as black people have to stop doing this because we have the power choose our destinies. Do understand as a white person that even though slavery is over, you are the beneficiary of racism and I am talking from an economic standpoint. You have more opportunities than what most black people have today. For example, In th state of CT especially Fairfield County white people are living very good. 95% of my white friends came out of college with no loans, some can get an apartment and immedialy move out the house because they have a family trust fund, and they dont need to struggle finding a job becuase they either know someone who can get them into a company or they simply work for one of their parents comapny. Is this racist, certainly no, but do understand very few black people have advantages of what I just stated. Thats because most black people are generations behind white people. Thats a hard fact but its true. Most black people today have to work twice as hard just to reach the living of most white people. Over time we shall get there. This is what most black people are working toward. Not all white people are racist, but it doesn't help the situation when extremist sayings are quoted "black people depend on the system." Thats adding fuel to the fire. For me, I love being financially independent, and I am a living witness that disproves this abhorant sterotype.

Basically, Everyone isn't racist, but stereotypical. Folks are quick to call someone racist, then base it on everyone of that same group or race. all of us do have racial tension with some folks. So all of us are racists to tell the truth. Not all whites want to treted likke kings and queens. It just happens to be that the ones at the top are the stereotypical ones that make the final decisions on equality.

okay then please respond to this question.

what has sharpton and jackson said that was racist?

i personally don't agree with those two but seriously i am tired of hearing,reading-posts like this-OUT RIGHT BLANKET STATMENT with no fact to support it.

heck just recently joe scoburrogh said he looked up to george wallace (if you don't know about one of the most famous racist gov's of all time in wallace-then you need to stop watching fox and go read a book about this countries history) you tell me how should i look at joe after a statement like that? its like me saying i love hitler.

but for the record all people are racist-in some small way. you aren't above it-your post shows hidden feelings of resent towars the poeple you are trying to "not accuse"

owe up to it-but stop with the lying.

"but for some reason the people that claim to be oppressed are the ones that just plain didnt get there way, like a child, "

sound a lot like you. simply describing yourself.

Sometimes it does seem like a bit of a double standard, but considering all that the blacks went through with slavery I guess they might feel they are entitled to have political extremists like Sharpton and Jackson. Not all blacks feel this way, that is something you have to remember. Some of them however do feel they are entitled to something for what their ancestors went through, and maybe they are, but if thats the case, I dont think monye is what they need. I dont know, its a touchy subject.

I think there definitely needs to be some clarity between racism and prejudice. What you are describing is prejudice (which everyone has)... it becomes racism when individuals use their power to oppress a group of people. Historically speaking, who has had the material wealth and social power to oppress whom? Why are people so angry when people of color try to reclaim their self-respect or to build themselves up in anyway possible? Is it so wrong for an Al Sharpton or Jesse Jackson to encourage their people to stand up against what they perceive as oppression? (Keep in mind that oppression takes on many forms... not just slavery, but in communicating to people of color how they are supposed to think and feel about themselves.) If white people are already in a position of power, what oppression do they have to stand up against? Is the thought of people of color trying to establish themselves as equals a threat?

Give it some thought...

P.S. You and some of the other posters sound like aversive racists to me. http://academic.udayton.edu/race/01race/racism10.htm

consider the situation:
Ghana is the world super power.
u work there as a computer scientist.
On way to work some young black guys says
hey u skinless, did u wash urself with bleaching powder,
that will be a racist remark.
u may understand the situation by this simple example.
