It varies. It also sounds like your temp agency didn't explain things very well to you in any case. Sometimes, the company may hire you on full time, usually after a period of time between one and twelve months. Other times a temporary position is just that as a company is trying to meet a temporary increase in demand for its product or service. Other companies won't hire you on ever, as they prefer to simply use temporary employees. This is not very common though for long term employment because it is generally cheaper for them to hire an employee rather than continually pay the fees to a temp agency. I know people who have been hired on full time after just a little over a month, and I know another guy who worked on a job for almost two years and was never hired by the company.

Some temp agencies have a set time for allowing their clients (the people you are laboring for) to hire you in full-time. Sometimes they will cut a deal, and sometimes they really don't want any more permanent employees.
All that paperwork you signed when you went to work for them should have that information.

good luck & blessing

there is no minimum - that is something they should have clarified for you when you started working for them. lots of folks work as temps for long periods of time. some companies do hire "temp-to-perm" but that is not mandatory.
