Read the directions on your recovery CD, like for instance on mine it says to put the CD in the computer before you start it up, power up the computer while holding down the "c" key until you see( Toshiba) on the screen release the c key, the computer will reformat the hard drive and install the factory image, one the process is complete, remove the CD and restart the computer and work you way from there, you system has something like mine. YOU WILL LOSE ALL PROGRAMS YOU HAVE INSTALLED,so back any files you want to save or you will have to start all over and go to where you got them from to get them back...good luck

You have two things to do, so you need to do this in two steps:
1. Fastest way to back everything up, get a portable hard drive and just move everything you want to save over the that drive.
2. Then when you are ready you can do a system restore/clean your drive, you can proceed with the following. You can either do a system restore or wipe your hard drive. This is real easy to do. I am going to provide a link for you. If you you want to reformat the hard drive on the computer and have a complete blank state I am also providing a link for you. These will help you will both your questions.

If u r using windows XP os..U go to start-All programs-Accesseries- Syatem tools- Back up. Then u can simply back up ur system to any device or drive.
Then go to control panel- Add or Remove programs-Then remove your programs
If u want to crash the machine...Boot the computer with your XP cd( Insert the cd in ur drive...then reset ur system...then boot from your cd.) after the first step of the processing there will be a window of partition Informations...Then simply click on a partition then press d todelete and l to confirm.
But u will lost every thing in your harddisk. Be careful

I don't know about mac (although I use one). On PC you need you burn CDs and drop and dragg your files into them to back up files. You cannot back up programs, just documents. You should have a CD that came with your computer that has the CD to install windows and other programs bundled together when you purchased your computer. Sometimes those CDs will allow you to format (format means erase) your whole computer. Else, you need to go to MSDOS see the link for more information.

hummm, is this a trick question??? hehehe if you uninstall everything, excluding the O/S, then you're okay! but if you uninstall all ex. format, then you will only get the post screen (DOS) for your own excitement/enjoyment you can always try, then re-install and start all over again :D hope this helps =)

To back up, copy your pic and docs to a cd rom or hard drive, to uninstall, the easiest way would be to go through the windows installation cd and format the hard drive - they will prompt you after setup starts. What exactly are you trying to do?

back up ur files to a cd or dvd or external harddrive .. just copy what u want to save .... all installed programs and drivers will need to be reinstalled so u need the installers ... copying wont work ... then u need to set ur bios to boot from cd first ... then u pop in the xp cd and delete ur current partitions then install on the free space ... actually the easiest way to reinstall drivers is to copy out ur windows folder and save it ... then after u reinstall windows use device manager to search the old windows folder for ur drivers ... good luck with it :)

If you have the original restore CD or a copy of the Windows installation disk, just backup anything you want to keep to CD or DVD and then use KillDisk to wipe out the hard drive completely.

First of all, you need to back up all your Data files. Try and burn everything to a disc, then to uninstall you need to format the drive. Or it will wipe everything out. But you need to make sure you have all your programs and operating systems. Or you will lose everything. Good Luck...
