A moderate doesn't feel compelled to follow party lines. A moderate freely chooses programs and issues to satisfy all people. Moderates focus on the broadest stroke of the population. A moderate will form compromises that work.
In politics, moderates are the parents while liberals and conservatives are the squabbling children in the backseat.

Moderates are not partial to any side. They make some of the better judges- I.E. O'Conner.

Although selected by Clinton, he was pretty much a moderate himself. O'Conner nor Clinton cared enough to strictly follow what a liberal is, instead, they sat on the fence about a lot of issues.

I classify myself as a moderate. I am a social liberal but a fiscal conservative. I am pro choice, pro 2nd amendment, I am against Government involvement in our private lives. I believe that people should be accountable for their lives and not be dependent on Government. You should be allowed to opt out of Social Security and use that money for a private retirement program. Just a Few examples.

a moderate, is a person who looks at the issues, and determines if they are good for America.
while doing so, they set aside their own personal religious beliefs, and make an objective decision on whether or not our government should be making laws on that issue or not.
after that, they decide if the money spent to enforce that law is worth it.
if it passes those two check, then and ONLY then, do they ask themselves if they want to live under that law or not.

but according to right-wingers they are all liberals, if they aren't right-wing fundies.

I want passion not weakness
I want a Wall not a wishy/washy little fence
