There may be a few reason why he/she doesn't like taking a bath. If the room in which you are bathing him/her is not warm enough, it might just be cold. There are some babies that just don't like getting wet and in that situation the only thing you can do is to do it as quickly as possible. It's also a good idea to take a bath with him/her that way it can stay close to you and feeling your skin with keep him/her calm.

For the first two months or so, I used a blow up pillow for the bathtub. I inflated the pillow about 3/4 of the way and laid the baby on the pillow on the sink counter. Then, I used a wash cloth (the disposables are actually great) and a little soap and washed the baby like that. The good thing about this method is you can keep the baby mostly covered up by clothes or towel while you wash other parts. This is what my mother used to call a "birdie bath." I have a small bathroom and had to bathe the baby by myself most times so I liked this because I didn't have to worry about dropping him. Good luck!

I saw a programme on TV with a mother at a complete loss with the same problem. The 'specialist' suggested that the baby's feet are rested on the end of the bath. Not sure why but it worked for them.
My baby sister (as she was then) hated baths initially and would scream the house down. Now you can't get her out of the bathroom..... she's 18! She's in there now as it happens....
If all else fails, you wouldn't be a bad mother for opting for the sponge bath. Why not save yourself and the baby some stress and try it in a couple of months when they like to experience new sensations. Start out with dipped feet and let them kick about for a while. A warm room is very important too.
Hope this helps. Good luck!

Are you using one of those mesh bather slings that hold the baby out of the water? I think those are horrible because the baby doesn't get to be in the warmth of the water, and is she is probably cold, uncomfortable, and sliding down.
Get one of those bath sponges they lay on and put it in either the regular bath tub, or the baby bath basin. Soak it with warm water before laying baby down on it. Make sure the baby is covered with a towel on the places you aren't washing, ensuring baby stays warm.
I just have the Safety First bear-shaped sponge that cost about 3 bucks that we've used for about 9 months. But here is a nicer one that would do the same job. My baby loves her baths!

my baby is 3 months. He hated baths his first few time. However I bought one of the bath tubs that's used for infants and it has a sling on it. It absolutely wonderful. The baby loves it because he feels the warmth on his back and I love it because I have two hands to do what I need to do. The sling supports him great! I put the tub in my tub, that way the water is right there along with everything else I need. I bought it at Wal Mart for like 12 bucks, its the best! Good luck!

lol does the small baby like watching tv? maybe get the little bath tub and do it where they can see the tv, or bring a toy in the bath with them. I dont know very many babies who like to bathe. But they cant be stinky! Instead of bathing them as much try sponge bath

I would try sponge bathing on the change table for a while and then gradually reintroduce the bath, my son was grouchy at first because he likes water thats pretty warm. Get in the bath with baby also because if your feeling stressed about thinking about it and then geting ready for bath, your child will pick up on this.

Try the sink or bath together or get a rag and put water on it and bathe the baby in that!

All small babies hate baths (it's usually really cold for them) . Buy a small basin and bath them somewhere really warm, be sure to be quick and bundle them in a warm towel when done. Bath them every second day and just clean them on the other days with a clean cloth and warm water.

My mother did something that scared the hell out of me. She lay my baby daughter back (4 months) in a very shallow bath, so that my daughter was flat on her back. The water wasn't up to her ears. And my usually screaming baby loved it! And that's how she bathed until she could sit.
