80% of humanity, the religious folks, don't need to ask the meaning of life, the church tells them....the supernatural explanation. But the rest of us can't swallow religious dogma, because there's no evidence. Nobody can prove that there life after death, that people are tortured or rewarded after life or that there's invisible spirits running around.

I've come to two conclusions recently:

1. Life has no meaning
2. Life has a million meanings.

First, there's a certainty that death and annihilation awaits not only you, but the Earth in general. It's an astonomical certainty that our sun will supernova and leave the earth a burnt crisp, not to mention all the other extinction level events around the corner.

Second, the million things that give us meaning are the pleasurable experiences we can conjure up during the short period we are here on the earth, in the form of the relationships we have with our kids and other people, and the 'housekeeping' types of purposes. What i mean by that are the curing disease, ending hunger, improving literacy, reducing crime, preventing war, helping other kinds of things.

So the bottom line is, we only have a temporary meaning to life, to reduce pain and increase pleasure, other than that everything is lost to oblivion.

To be or not to be? "To be" is temporary and "not to be" is inevitable.....

The only thing you were born with of the above choices is wanting Man at birth has a consciousness that is blank First one must have a purpose before one developes any ability and love is an evaluative response to what made an individual choose a purpose

Yes, and yes. I think everyone has a purpose in life. Some actively pursue their purpose, some ignore it, and some are just too lazy to find out.

If a person finds his purpose in life, and is fulfilling the purpose, that person will be happy, and be satisfied with life. It is like being on course on the way to a chosen destination - you feel contentment.

However, if a person does not know his purpose, or is not pursuing his purpose, the person will feel lost, confused, afraid, or feel a general unease, and the nagging feeling of a life wasted. That person will feel like a fish out of water.

Most people are born with unique circumstances, and gifts - which can show as strengths or weaknesses. Sometimes, a person's strength can be a weakness, and a weakness can be a strength. It is important to discover one's purpose, and how to use one's gift to achieve that purpose. Sometimes, a person will discover it early in life, and sometimes, later in life. If a person did not find his purpose, it will usually show up in his life as either something is missing, or a yearning for a higher cause, or a general sense of dissatisfaction. That urge must be explored to find one's true purpose. If ignored, the person's life will decline both spiritually, mentally, and physically.

If a person found his purpose, and is pursuing it, he will feel that his life is complete, he enjoys what he does, and will seek to do more of what makes him happy.

Our purpose in this world is to grow as spiritual beings. Many religions have a path to enlightenment, but Jesus distilled it down best. Love God and love your neighbor. We are born completely self-centered out of necessity for our survival, but as we mature, we need to shed the scales from our eyes. This is a life-long project, requiring introspection and empathy. Best wishes on your journey.

Our purpose can only be understood in perspective to the before and afterlife. Thus the usefulness or correct religious doctrine, which teaches us what we need to know about the before and after in order to properly order our priorities and make choices while on this earth.
(The reason that these important truths are not immediately apparent is because we are required to exercise some faith in order to arrive at these greater truths. This way we appreciate the answer more, and are much more likely to act on it.)

There is no purpose for us being here. We are not here on our and we are not going to leave this place at our own either. We are here by chance and while we are here we should enjoy every moment of it. Society, religion, politics they are all designed to exploit the weakes and most gullible among us. If we are strong to justify our actions then the world is our playground.

We are here to experience, spread, and help life.
I do not yet know what my special ability or want is.
But I do know I am somewhat creative and desire "a better world".

My answer depends on my mood. If in a not so good mood then I would answer, Life is a cock roach race for God' amusement. On the other hand, if my mood is good then I would answer, Life is about nurturing, giving life, loving, helping others and experiencing Mother Earth.
