I Just found out my boyfriend has some outstanding bench warrants for him for some Non-violent (low-grade) misdemeanors in New York State. Hes moved out here to Wyoming, and doesnt have the money to get back to NY to go to court...Will the FBI or some other agency get him and send him back to NY to face the charges??

To the morons who are responding with "Your bf's a loser, get rid of him, etc..." Please shut up and go away *now*!! This a Legal question, not a relationship advice question. 2ndly: You have zero knowledge on his situation, and furthermore just because someone is unfortunate enouggh to get arrested does NOT AUTOMATICALLY make him guilty OR a bad person. There are A CRAP LOAD of crooked cops out there (most especially in NY if you keep up with the NEWS),...and ny state in particular is INFECTED with corruption and legal atrocity....So, if youre an ignorant moron...keep embarassing yourself in public with posting your stupidity here, you're just making us intelligent ppl laugh @ you.....

Probably only happen if the charges are serious enough to warrant extradition and/or if he gets picked up for breaking the law.
He needs to contact the court in NY and get things straightned out.

Are you sure the warrants are only for misdemeanors? I would check it out and make sure; there is this thing called harboring a fugitive and you don't want him to take you down along with him. If they are only misdemeanors, I doubt they would go to the expense of extraditing him to NY. However, if he gets arrested for any reason and/or gets stopped by the police they will find out about the warrants, and he will be arrested on the spot and taken to jail. If I were you, I would steer clear of this guy (especially if you have kids) and if he is living with you, I would insist he make other living arrangements until he gets this mess cleared up. If you really want to protect yourself from getting mixed up in this mess, another option would be to find another boyfriend. This guy sounds like a loser. Otherwise, he would have taken care of this mess BEFORE he left NY. Sounds to me like he's running from the law.

A warrant will likely be issues for his arrest at some point, when he continues to not show up for his court appearances. I guess he shouldnt have gone to Wyoming until that stuff was straightened out. Its unlikely they would go to the expense of extraditing him if they are truly low level misdemeanors, but if he ever goes back to NY, he'd better walk the very straight and narrow and hope nobody runs his license plate, because he'd likely be headed to the slammer at that point.

The FBI could care less. However if he gets stopped for traffic or other violations they may arrest him. Chances are the states won't communicate bench warrants for misdemeanors though. If he does go back to New York and have any contact with cops (speeding, loitering, whatever) he will be arrested because of the bench warrants.

Usually warrants issued for misdemeanors are only state warrants. He will only get in trouble if he gets pulled over in NY. Nobody will come looking for him.

I am waiting for you to tell us he has hit on you for some cash . That way he can do a disappearing act again and some dumb person has helped him. Obviously he is not very concerned or he would go to the local police station and say Hey, take me back to NY.
Are you serious to let him hang around ? Wake up, he has nothing to offer you but trouble . You are protecting a fugutive .
What a life .

Quite frankly, bench warrants are only issued when the accused doesn't show up for a court appearance. If he is so innocent and picked on, he would have shown up - not fled to Wyoming!
He is a loser - and now you have him. Please keep him in Wyoming...Thank you.

And you choose to remain with him why? What does he have to bring to the table in the relationship, other than getting you arrested for harboring a fugitive.

Nah, he's safe. Misdemeaners are not worthy of all the expense. But then I would'nt think moving to get away from them was worth it either. maybe he's lying to you?
