I am 18 at the moment and have only one year of college left, I will graduate, May, 2008. I want to do law but have heard rumors that if you start law school to young you will be unable to finish, or if able to finish school to get a job. I have done all of the work that juniors in college have. I am going to a respectable university and have a high GPA. Am I to young to go to law school? Are there any detriments to going to law school that young?

The only real disadvantage is the lack of life experience. But, that goes for almost anyone who goes straight from college to law school.

The only other thing I can think of is minor. Nearly all lawyers drink. When you go out to firm functions, there's usually alcohol. You won't be able to drink legally while nearly everyone else can.

There was someone about your age at my law school. They never had a problem, other than the drinking thing. But, they never card for the most part (unless maybe at a restaurant) so it might never come up.

If you are intelligent, do well in school and have the dedication to go to law school, you shouldn't let your age hold you back.

However, you might want to go to work for a couple of years and relax. Sounds like you are on the fast track with school, and law school is no joke. I have friends who attended law school and I didn't see them for 3 years. . .

If you are sure you're ready for it, go for it. You can be like Doogie Howser, Esquire. (instead of M.D. . get it? haha) That was probably a generation too early for you, but maybe everyone else will get it haha.

i ought to favor to imagine that it would not count number, yet truly, the admissions committee can be a tad judgmental and picture you may be lacking in immaturity as compared to different applicants. or perchance no longer even that, yet fairly that you do not have adequate journey. you could coach them incorrect, even with the actuality that. Have an incredible list of extracurriculars that exhibit your pastime in regulation, good suggestion letters, and obviously intense grades. Do ok on the LSAT, and ace your interview. notwithstanding, why rush issues? (except it truly is a $$ challenge). Double majoring may be tremendous; you ought to hit upon a type of interests. also, regulation college is a huge dedication; you do not favor to hurry into it once you're uncertain in case you want to be there contained in the first position. Plus, college is supposedly the "acceptable 4 years of your existence--" it could be effective to have all 4 of those years lol. nicely good success with inspite of direction you go with!
