An interesting question. I don't know the answer but have wondered as much. There is a large Lebanese population in the US and all that I have known are bright and nice people, good family people. So its makes me wonder if there are the same kind of people trying to make a go of it in a country in which anyone who speaks for Lebanon runs the risk of being killed by the Syrians who want to dominate the country. People in Lebanon seem to be educated oriented but every other week some stone stupid terrorist is killing or trying to kill education ministers, college professors and students in an effort to keep people stupid and controllable. I think there are people in the Lebanese goverment trying to do the right thing but they are up against some powerful forces of darkness who wish only harm and oppression for Lebanon. They deserve support but you really cannot support them from the USA or it will be used by the evil forces to discredit people trying to work toward helping the citizens.

heres the simple version the there are two governemnts in lebanon there si the prime minister and his govt and the president and his government usually they work together but now the two governemnts are split between syrian and anti syrian and further those two governments have been split in half two so the entire countries govt is at a stale mate meaning that no real dessisions can be made the country basically is run my teh mayors of the towns and the countries governors the national govt is not doing anything because its cannot make a dessision on anything if no one agrees to something and the entire govt is split on secatrian lines so the whole place is paralyzed right now

The current Lebanese govt. is consider to be anti-syrian which is good but some pro-syrian support are trying to break it down to take veto power which is very bad to the Lebanese people as Syria and Iran will take more power. U.S. and the E.U. has been putting effort to resolve the issue as soon as possible.

All we have to do is wait and see.
