Who got themselves in a marriage, set children into the world and made everything solid calculateing all this for a certain reason (besides love) For example not haveing to work, "chaining" the partner to yourself, makeing somebody else jealous, planning to rip the other off .... and so on. I mean all the true reasons behind cheating yourself with this "But I DO love him/ her!"-crap.

I married my husband because I am optimistic enough to believe that love is what matters, and so is he.
In saying that the night before my mother in law got married she was telling me that she was just doing it coz he was sick (cancer) and he could set her up to have something to leave her kids. He is her 5th husband

Every relationships has different facets to it, people get married for money and support, comfort and a certain life style, as well as for love.
Yes, there are a lot of misguided reasons, but the main point is:
even when you get married for love, there are no guaranties in life, and the marriage can end up just as bad if not worse, especially if there are kids involved and emotions run high.
Mind you, in case of people who get married as part of more a business oriented concept, it might last longer, they are less emotional, know what they want and what is expected from them, and treat it like a job, that if you don't do well, you will get fired. In any case, you should treat your partner with respect and do your best to be a good parent, whatever the circumstances of your union may be.

My first marriage was like that and it was a very sad and hard marriage for 9 years with ups and downs and ended in my husband taking his own life. We got married because i was preganant with my first daughter.. I wish now that things would have been different but you cannot change past you can only forgive yourself and live for the future and make the most of it. My marriage now is for love and it is a wonderul marriage and very happy.

Mine was the opposite. I got married to a jerk, had kids, got divorced after he ran our relationship into the ground, he took off with everything, and doesn't even call his kids, or pay child support! But I did stay with him for 8 years quoting the I DO love him crap.
