Depends on the what type of surgery, they can not do a HIV without your consent actually they can not do any test with out your consent. If your not sure what what they are testing you for then ask. But standard protocol doesn't include HIV or STD's unless they suspect something.

if you have to do emergency surgery they go ahead with the procedure try to get your consent for all test including HIv and Aiids while your knocked out on the table they will draw blood, you may need a trafusion or they need to know your blood type.sometime they will test you if they have suspision of something such as your symtoms,I had pneumonia and they were going to test me for AIDS.why what are you hiding anyway.I don't see why they would need to test you for STD'S unless your surgery was related to your privates.

They need your consent to do an HIV test. In emergency surgeries they tend just to get the surgery done, time is not on their side. They do draw blood, mainly to type your blood in case transfusions are necessary. They also check your clood counts, anemmia was probrably tested too.

Chances are they tested you for STD's such as PID, Herpes ect... but not for HIV. As for as I know you have to sign a consent for HIV testing, at least in most states

no, they will focus on what the surgery is, but if blood work has to get done before surgery (like any major surgery) they will find out, but it is completely confidential so dont worry about anyone in your family or friends finding out.

I dont't tink so. That is only if you go to a gynecologist or you want to be tested for it. They have to do a specific test for that.
