It is when you have feelings of love and emotions for someone of the opposite sex other than your spouse. It can be accompanied by sex or not . I am currently having one. I feel that there is nothing wrong with it my husband is a first class A** and if it weren't for this guy in my life I would feel alone and empty, and we have never had sex.

An emotional affair is when a married person has the same sort of emotional relationship with another person as they would with their spouse; ie, they are not having sex with the other person, but love them and turn to them as they ought to do with their spouse.
Yes, it's fine for a married person to have close connections with friends and family members, regardless of the person's sex... but there is a unique emotional connection between spouses that cannot be replicated elsewhere without a sense of betrayal.

Ask yourself if the "emotional connection" with the married person is a close friendship, or if it has romantic overtones. Keep the spouse in mind, and be careful not to overstep any bounds.

I think emotional affairs are worse than the sexual ones because then there is a real emotional attachment to the person where as with sex it can be just FWB.
