have an anti freeze leak on an audi 94 cs 100. I believe i found a park for $89 to replace the water pump. What would be a resonable price to pay to have it put in and the diag. to make sure that that is the problem. What is the max i should expect to pay if that is not it. What is the price range?

You open up the hood and look for yourself for the antifreeze leak. It really is just called a leak. You can tell where antifreeze, especially if it is green is leaking out. Your water pump will make a lot of racket if that is the problem. Check your radiator hoses and your radiator and the cap and the thermostat before you go and buy an expensive part. You can do it yourself. If you feel brave, pop the cap when the car is cold. Start it up and watch the water in the top of the radiator tank and see if it disappears. Fill it while running with radiator fluid until it won't take anymore. Then see how your car runs. While you have it idling after filling with fluid, take a peek underneath and see if it is leaking anywhere and if possible, trace the leak. If you do not find a leak, go and get a water pump and replace it yourself. I had to do the very same thing to my Mustang II Cobra with a 2800 V6. It was a ***** but I did it and it worked just fine after that. Never undersell your ability to fix your car yourself when it is something that isn't inside your motor. Oh yeah, check to see if your water and oil are mixed when you check your oil. You may have a cracked block or a blown head gasket. If you are unsure about a water pump, I would say take it to a mechanic. Also, a blown head gasket or cracked block will blow steam right out of the exhaust.

I don't know much about Audi's but, the average cost for labor is between 60 & 70 dollars. I would guess it will take a pro mechanic aprox. 2-3 hrs to replace the part. If you are lucky it could just be a hose or something. Good luck.
