You can make-your-own postage at zazzle.com. Seriously - use any jpeg and make custom postage stamps. You can use a funny picture of your brother-in-law, or just search for funny images online. The best part is, it's a useful gift - since they are real stamps! It's a creative practical gift that anyone is sure to enjoy!
I just got a couple sheets of stamps for my mom as a gift - and they were a hit!

Get him some ridiculous and wild piece of original art (which can be really afforabled) on a topic that he loves. I bet he doesn't have something like that and he would love to decorate his house with something sophisticated and unique. You can write a warm msg for him on the back of the artwork as well.
Not a lot of people own original art these days and if you get him something funny or wild he'll love it and he'll hang it somewhere for everyone to see.
