their lungs aren't developed fully...usually they give you a steroid shot. They are more prone to RSV and other illnessess.

While there is still a risk of breathing/eating problems most likely it will not cause lifelong issues. My son was born at 29 weeks and is now 2 1/2 and no delays, asthma, or any other health issues. It has a lot to do with the treatment they receive. My son was taken to Seattle Children's Hospital the day after he was born and they are wonderful with preemies.

there are many risks with any preemie! But with all of the technology they have today, there really isn't anything to worry about. My nephew was born at 32 weeks and is fine! A friend had her baby at 25 weeks and she is 10 years old now! Don't worry!

My cousin gave birth at 33 weeks at her baby was fine, she was 5lbs and had to stay in the hospital for 2 weeks as her eating habits weren't acceptable by the doctor but now shes 7 months and doing great.

premature. Maybe immature lungs, but probably fine. Usually kept in Neonatal ICU for at least a few days maybe weeks. My sister had a baby at 26 weeks and baby was 2.2 pounds. Let me tell you, she was tiny. The chances of the baby leaving the hospital for a baby born at 33 weeks would be slim for at least 4 weeks.

i had mine at 32 weeks and mine were in the NICU because they at first had to be on cpap then candulas, then my boy got jaundice, then they were anemic and couldnt maintain body temp and they were tube feed at first and can be low birth rate remember not all babies have this problem but these are just some that can happen and they can have head bleeds mine also had minor heart murmers and had to be montitors and had breathing spells which your friend will find out if her baby does shell be in there longer and that is if she or he has any problems my girl had a blood transfusion because what made red blood cells didnt make them as fast as her body wouldve like whatever happens good luck to your friend and be good great friend she might need it NICU is really stressful and hard

a friend of mine gave birth at 33 weeks and her baby was fine he was in the NICU for two days but it was just to make sure he could do everything on his own, me on the other hand i had my son at 30 weeks and he was in the NICU for three months he had sleep apnea really bad, he was constantly sick or not breathing. its scary, there are too many risks for a preemie baby to list just a couple, anything can happen, her baby could be just fine or he or she could have a lot of difficulties, it depends, good luck.

The lungs would not be fully developed unless the mother had recieved a shot of sterioids. The baby would be small, but the worst is the underdeveloped lungs which at this day & age is very treatable.

If it is medically necessary sure. But in most cases the babies are underweight and most likely will have some premature lung problems. It is a scary thought to have one under 38 wks. I hope all goes well and good luck.

delivery is always risky. By ultrasounds you may be able to prepare for the worst.

the doctors are the best to check and advise. A lot of premmies are actually well adjusted and very healthy babies once properly cared for.

I was born 4 months early, weighing 1lb 5 oz and that was in 1985.. I survived.. so I'm sure the baby will be just fine :)
