Hrm....I'm 6 months pregnant and I'm trying to remember what I did for back ache. It's ok to take a very warm bath just don't stay in there to long. What the doctor is trying to do is prevent your body temperature from becoming to high because baby can't regulate his own temp. If I used the heating pad I would only use it for a little while at a time. Try the warm bath, take a Tylenol (safe to take during pregnancy) get your partner to give you a back rub, and just try to take it easy. Enjoy that little back ache while you can. It only gets worse. :)

It all depends on the reasons you can't take a hot bath. If you are having a normal pregnancy with no concerns then you should be okay with a heating pad on your back. My doctor told me that I can have a heating pad on my back and I can take warm baths. They just don't want your body temperature to get too high. I would give your doctor's office a call and see if a heating pad is safe to use on your back. Every pregnancy is different so certain people may not be able to use heating pads and others are able to. Hope this helps. You may also ask your doctor about seeing a chiriopracter. It helps out a lot. Good Luck.

No heating pad either. You have to be careful of raising your core temp too high. If Tylenol doesn't help your pain, ask your OB if you can get something stronger. There are stronger pain meds you can take during pregnancy, but they are prescription only. You might also try a chiropractor. I had back problems long before I was pregnant, so I had already been seeing one. I continued through my pregnancy and it helped me tremendously. I am pregnant again and still getting chiropractic care. I am 9 weeks. Last week I started getting pains in my lower back that I had never experienced before. The pain was right in the center of my spine. This pain lasted for about a week and suddenly went away this morning. I'm wondering if it had anything to do with the baby starting to grow more. Usually this happens in the 2nd trimester, but this is my second child, so maybe it's happening earlier. Best of luck to you.

You could have ovarian cysts. I had one rupture while I was just about this far along and before it ruptured it just felt like a back ache and when it went, I was doubled over in pain, could not walk... Heating pad should be ok. Hot baths have been known to cause birth defects in babies.
The pregnancy in question did turn out ok even though the corpus ludim cyst ruptured

A heating pad is probably fine. You are not supposed to take hot baths because it can be dangerous for the baby if you get overheated(not just from baths).

Heating pad is fine. Just low heat for no more than 15 minutes at a time. A WARM bath is fine, just dont raise your temp. Maybe someone can give you a massage? Take Tylenol and drink lots of water.

I think a heating pad is okay because its not on your belly where your baby is... your baby cant control its own temperature so thats why you cant take a hot bath but on your back i dont think your belly would get warm.

I had the same thing, and yes heating pads work, and warm baths.
Hot can over heat you and the baby and could cause a miscarriage.
Tylenol might help too, but that is about all you can do
Good luck

No hot baths, no heating pad, and especially no electric blankets. I forgot exactly why but don't chance hurting your baby. Good luck! Have your hubby give you a nice back rub and try stretching exercises.

the dr says not to take a hot bath because it acts like an oven for the baby... if you make it so that your belly is out of the water that should be fine but yes a hotback oin the back would be ok cause its on your back not your belly
