because they are both in the NFC. Maybe if they realign to different conferences, like Seattle switched from the AFC to the NFC when they added Houston to the league.

Simple. They're both in the National Football Conference. The Super Bowl is played by teams from the NFL and the AFL. The Packers could only play San Fran in the Divisional title game.

There are two divisions in pro football, NFC, and AFC, the two champions out of each division play each other in the super bowl, since greenbay and S.F. are both int he NFC, they will not be able to play together in the super bowl.

Both Suck, and both are in the NFC. The Super Bowl is the top AFC team against top NFC team. I think neither team will make playoffs for another 2+ years.
