Over 51 years born in this country, transplanted myself several times in different parts of the country! Work ethics are strong, I want to work now but in the past 10 years over half of that time has been income less or no job! I am in Central Florida and all the availiable resources i know about seem to be useless! I have some College NO degree but certification as a Truck Driver since 1979 CDL-A with TX endorsements Some driver position i might except others NOT! I would prefer another job M-F week-ends off etc. What resources really are effective?

Here's an idea. I believe you can get online and access different newpapers want ads. I live in southern Texas and there are ads for truck drivers on a daily basis. With all the damage from those tornadoes, jobs in construction should be opening up like crazy. If you are having problems with getting a job, you usually take what is available. If you have a record of not working, people really will hire someone that has worked regularly. If you have gone through a lot of jobs and then remainded unemployed it looks as tho' you have problems keeping a job. And then your age is starting to work against you too. Sometimes you have to take a job that might be less that you want and work there for awhile and then, while you are still employed, look for a better job. Awhile would be a year-at least. LOL

The problem is that if you are a certified truck driver, with that much experience, it will be nearly impossible to find a M-F desk job that gives you weekends off. You need to concentrate on finding the right driving position for you. You seem pretty adamant that there are available jobs out there that you won't take. If you are being picky, and located in Central Florida, and not in a major city, your dream job will be hard to find. I would start looking on the Internet at big companies that hire drivers, retail stores like Walmart have their own fleet. Grocery stores have long trip drivers, check out Stop and Shop or Publix which is down there. You might also look into UPS or FedEx as those jobs might provide you with better working hours and make at least a little use of your experience. That's my advice. Start searching websites of major businesses and anyplace that needs a fleet of trucks. You will find more online than in your local paper. Good luck.

I know that there are a whole lot of trucking jobs in NY, PA, and KY....but if you would prefer something that is not always going to keep you on the go, I would highly suggest starting your own at home business. You have the advantage of experience over others, although it is not required, it would definitely aid you! I currently am an independent business owner, and all I had to do is enroll through a legitimate company and use the internet and phone to do the job! If you want more details, simply click my avatar image, this should take you to my YA profile. In my YA profile you will see a link that I have provided to the YA community, click the link, it will take you to the company's website. Review the website's information as little or as much as you want, and simply request an interview. Best of luck to you friend!

I cannot answer for your situation in the US, but in the UK we have resources at our disposal in job centres and the like - searching the internet is also useful; as for your perception of the standard of replies, then yes, there are juvenile responses geared purely to the acquisition of points.
