My daughter nurses 4 times a day (8,12,4, and 8). Sometimes she also has a middle of the night feeding. She also is on solid foods: fruit and cereal for breakfast, veggies and cereal for lunch, and fruit and veggies for dinner. She nurses fast (up to 10 minutes at the most, sometimes only 5 minutes on one side). She seems happy and content, sleeps well, and is developmentallly on track. Does anyone else has a baby who nurses so little?

My 5 month old also nurses for only 5-10 minutes at a time. I'm not worried as he's a chubby baby, develping normally and gaining weight. Some babies are just faster then others.

I am in the middle of nursing my daughter as well. She feeds up to 10 -15 minutes on each side. I was told by her dr that anything over that is the baby using me like a pacifier. I believe that your daughter is on the right track, and sounds like she has a wonderful mom who is only concerned.

She's doing great!!
and so are you!
:)
She'll let you know when she wants to nurse, and when she's done, she's content. As long as she gaining weight, she's doing fine :)
Are you giving her liquids thru a sippy cup? If not, this would be a GREAT time for you to start her on one :)
Put a little watered down juice in a sippy, and let her play with it... she'll figure it out!!
When my daughter was the same age as yours, she had a very similar nursing pattern, and she is doing excellent now!!

My daughter did this too, and she did it mainly for my reassurance that she was my baby and not out of need.
One day, I just said no, she walked away the first few times and then in the evenings she insisted.
After a few days, she just quit.
But she was 18 months then, so really, as long as you are both comfortable with it, then continue until you are both ready.

My daughter only nurses for ten minutes, maybe fifteen if she's lazy. They are much more efficient at draining your breast at this age than when they were newborns. By your post, she has all the important ingredients for development, so relax :)

Sounds about right to me. You probably have a good, fast let down.

If she's happy and content, that's the main thing. Don't worry about the numbers.
