There isn't really much you can do. I went through tis a few years ago and I know how it feels when you care about a friend but you can't help them. Right now, talk to someone about it. Talk to her parents, or someone close to her. Depending on how bad she is cutting, you could go to a mental hospital and have her committed. It may hurt for a while but she needs help. Just find someone who can help her better than yourself and her boyfriend. And for one person who said cutters only do it for attention, tha tmay be true but they also do it because it takes the pain away from the situation they are thinking about.

It's a bad situation. Do you betray your friend and tell her parents or teachers behind her back, even if its for her own good, even if it could ruin your friendship? Tough call, but what if cutting isn't good enough, what if she needs to hurt herself more? Talk to her and try to convince her to get counciling or talk to her parents. Tell her she CAN get help and things could be better for her. Even if you do tell her parents, eventually she will get help, get better and *should* forgive you and thank you for helping. Of course it always depends on the person.

You are going to have to try to get her to the doc. My sister was doing the same thing, and she got really bad for a while there. But after one really bad night (cops had to come and force her to the hospital , cuffs and everything) she got a really great doctor, and found that her b.controll pills were causing depression, and got her on some meds. She is much better now. Good luck

This is beyond your power to fix, honey. Please tell her parents, a school counselor, or teacher so that they can get her professional help. A therapist can help your friend figure out why she feels the need to hurt herself, and her help improve her self-esteem and feel better about herself.
meanwhile, tell your friend that instead of cutting herself, to call you or the boyfriend first, anytime of the day or night, to talk. Your warm support and concern can be very helpful to her.

As the two above stated calling the police and having he put in a mental hospital is scary. That is going to make her rebel and possibly dislike you. The best approach is to remind her how much she has helped you through, and tell her how much she means to you and her BF. You and him should talk to her together. Just be there for her.

I use to cut myself. then I seen the scars it made and didnt like the scars, so I stopped. Its hard to try to help someone who doesnt seem to want the help. sorry to say this, but I was told people who cut themselves just want attention, or like the attention that they get and thats why they do it.
personally, I didnt cut myself for attention cause my family and friends got upset with me and quit hanging with me. another reason why I stopped.
Im sure youve asked her why, right? probably got an answer of "I dont know" or "just cause I want to". ?? classic excuses, but dont believe them cause theres gotta be something deep thats bothering her. find out what that is and help her from there.
~hugs~ good luck! ♥

Tell a guidance councelor, teacher, parent, nurse ASAP!!! You can't help her alone. This is a SERIOUS mental illness which needs to be dealt with my professionals. People who cut themselves dont do it because they want to die. They do it because they feel its the only thing they can do to control there lives. They want help otherwise they would have just done it right and deep enough.

emo and goths aren't the only people who cut. and you should try to help her and find out the cause instead of trying to force her. you can't force someone to stop and its not something that you can easily stop. just support her. and tell her that any time she feels like she needs to cut to talk to you instead about whats wrong.
