I had one computer I started my iTunes account on. I put about 50 songs on that. It dies and gets taken away for repair. I get a new computer. No songs appear in the library with the same account. I buy more and put them on my iPod, but they replace all the current songs on the iPod. Old computer comes back with new memory. Asks me to authorize computer again. I do. Asks me to replace all current songs with songs in that library. I do, since I have all my current songs on the other computer. When I try to go back on my new computer to add the new songs, it asks me to replace the current songs with the songs in the library. So, I can only have songs from one library on my iPod at one time, but I want all songs on my iPod at once, Am I screwed, or is there something I can do????

Despite your troubles, there is actually a relatively simple solution to this problem. First of all, within iTunes highlight your iPod in the source list, and under Options make sure "Only sync check items" is UNchecked, "Manually manage music and music" is CHECKED, and "Enable disk use" is CHECKED. Now that those settings are taken care of, download SharePod, which is free of charge, from http://www.softpedia.com/get/IPOD-TOOLS/Other-IPOD-tools-Updates/SharePod.shtml

Unzip Sharepod.exe directly onto your iPod. This program allows you to transfer Music and playlists from your iPod to your PC.

Another alternative--and I think a better one--is also free program called floola which you can download from http://www.floola.com and also be run directly from your ipod. It allows you to transfer music, videos, and other files from iPod to your PC as well as transfer content back onto your iPod.

I hope this helps. If this doesn't address your problem, get back to me and there are a couple other things I could suggest specifically regarding managing multiple libraries. Thanks!

There is an even more simple answer to your problem!

If you have itunes 7.
1. Plug in your ipod.
2. Click on the little picture of your ipod.
3. Go to 'music' on the top tool bar
4. De-select 'sync music'

Now you can have whatever tracks you want on your itunes playlist without bothering the songs on your ipod. In other words, itunes does not automatically delete/sync music onto your ipod whenever you plug it in, you do the selecting munually with no loss.

If you enable disk use on your iPod, you can move one of your iTunes folders onto it and use it to move it to the other computer. Then combine the two libraries in that iTunes and resync it. That is what I did. But like the other answer said, you can't sync it with more than one library.

That is one downside of the iPod versus other cheap players that you just move the music files onto.

I bought an external hard drive that I loaded my iTunes folder on. I then transfered songs from three different computers to the external HD and now all of my songs (6,000+) are in one library.
