I am a college freshmen this year and I am having a lot of trouble adjusting to school. I have a lot of friends here and I love the environment, and I don't have to worry about money because my parents are paying for everything, from complete tuition, to my new car, to my 700 monthly allowance. I was freshmen class president the first semester but I lost my position because of my grades and now I'm facing the possibility of getting thrown out of school if i don't get my grades up. I am so thankful for all that my parents give me and I could not do that to them and please don't that I'm an ungrateful little spoiled boy I understand how easy I have it and I'm afraid of disappointing my parents, but that still doesn't motivate me, and i hate myself for it. I'm not a dumb guy, but I just cant apply myself at all. I've tried joining study groups and organizing my time in schedule books but I just end up blowing it all off. Please can someone give me some advice! What am I doing wrong?

It sounds to me like you're in college NOT because you're working on a goal that is important to you but rather because that's where your parents enabled you to go.
What is your ultimate goal? How do you envision your life after graduation?
Are you sure that the subjects you are studying interest you sufficiently to apply yourself? It doesn't sound like that to me.
Don't hate yourself. It doesn't help! Use your dissatisfaction to take a personal inventory of what really motivates you in life. Find YOUR WHY, your goal, your dream. Then make the changes necessary to steer you in that direction. You may want to change majors. If you are already in the course of study that will lead to the future you want, then forget about what your parents want, what your peers want, the social life, the parties, everything, and keep your eye on that goal.
Get some pictures of the future environment you're aiming for and put them in prominent places.
Write out a list of 'action steps to get me to my goal'. Mark off the completed steps. Reward yourself with fun things when a task is complete.

I don't wish to sound harsh or judgmental, but if your parents are truly providing all that you say, and if you really don't want to disappoint them, and you still can't take advantage of what most people would grab with both hands, then it's not you who have the problem.
It's your poor long-suffering parents. Either get down to it and make them proud, or quit, get a job and try and repay some of the kindness they have shown you.
When the allowance runs out, I imagine you'll need to earn a living. What will you do with a wasted academic career to impress a prospective employer?

I think you need a visible reminder of the reason you are there, Perhaps a poster of some thing negative that will remind you of your commitment to your self. If you continue down this road you will be out and then you will have the fun of explaining what happened. The one thing you have not realized is YOU are an adult, not a little kid anymore, so you have to behave like an adult and take responsibility for your actions, if you do not believe me put your self in your parents place and listen to your excuses. no matter how you slice it you are behaving childish You want and you got and now you want but not the want you got. So do take your situation seriously and Make your self behave like an adult because it is the right thing to do

Personally i think you should speak to a college adviser and explain that you have difficulty concentrating, because thats what it sounds like.
Speak to an adviser who can probably try and plan the best course of action, they don't want you to fail and im sure there are services where you can get support.
Also by doing this you will be demonstrating to the college that you're serious about studying and that you're actively trying to change.
Good Luck!

I procrastinate as well, especially with school work. Ive learned that you just have to have the will power to do it. Also -- ask yourself if you even REALLY want to be there, or if you are just doing it because its what you are "supposed" to do. If you really dont want to be there, especially if you aren't actually happy and fulfilled with life, you wont do it. My strategy is to do what I like, and do stuff to make me happy (which actually included not taking any more of my parent's money, which they offered). So now i pretty much support myself and can make any decision that I want with out any strings attached.

definite I procrastinate at times; I frequently procrastinate even as it includes writing papers, and that i frequently write them a million-2 days previously the due date. Procrastinating is frequent all people does it once in a lengthy time period.
