Am I right to ignore and disrespect muslim women?

Question

I asked the question are there any celebrated women in the history of the muslim world(?). Apparently there are none. If a woman chooses Islam then am I right to think she doesn't want to be respected? I'll ignore muslim women if that is what they want.

Musliim women choose to be ignored. Why would you feel bad. Even the NOW organization hasn't got the guts to come out and say anything against their staying Muslim and choosing to be counted as second class citizens?????????? I am really dissapointed in the American woman that chooses not to stand up for the muslim equality of women.

Right or wrong? I try to always respect anybodys religous choice. No matter how insane I may think it is! C'mon, Freddie Mercury and his family were Zoorastrians! I think you are trying to point ot that Islam as a religous and political point of view degrades women. I do not completely agree, I think it is uneducated Muslims and women haters who choose Islam for that purpose that have done that to the religion. As far as my feelings toward Arabs/Persians, I think they need to read a lot more books other than the Koran, which apperently has gone through to many re-writes. Just like the Bible. However I do Acknowledge Christ as my Savior, so don't get on my back folks.

but no, don't disrespect them, don't disrespect anyone, especially if it's just because don't agree with something you haven't even researched ahd have made gross generalizations about.

where have you gotten your info about islam and muslim women from? if you're totally relying on yahoo answers for this, i suggest you maybe read a book, talk to leaders in a mosque, or here's a novel idea - speak to muslim women about muslim women.

Yes there is celebrated woman in this culture and it can be found in the family clans and word of mouth, to seek them out you would have to begin a quest and be able to read Arabic. And, yes they want to be respected they are caught up in a culture that prohibits them from speaking out publically. Compare this to the caged tiger in the Zoo. If you were to go in its cage he would give you an earful of his life in captivity, and naturally want out.

Maybe this will help, it is very ancient, but one reason why the Muslim and Islam woman cover them selves is because back in the days, thousands of years ago, Fathers wanted to protect their daughters from rich Sheiks, Kings and men of noble dignitary, and the worst...theifs and Evil men.
Often these men had Concubines and it was common to have hundreds of wives. If a woman struck his fancy he would claim her or buy her for himself.

Many fathers lost daughters this way, and a way to protect his daughter was to cover her beauty.

Back to Modern day, hopefully this tradition is breaking and these pretty girls beauty will shine and peace will prevail.

A young suitor will think trice when he saddles up to be a human bomb and kill as in modern terrorists. The beauty of a woman can and will stop him from this horrible evil deed.

There are Muslim women who are fighting for women's rights; a Muslim woman won the Nobel Peace Prize for her fight for Muslim womens rights.

There are some Muslim women who have their lives threatened because they're fighting for Women's Rights so, no don't disrespect them they get enough disrespect from their own.

The Prophet's first wife Khadija is called the Mother of Believers. Aisha, was one of the biggest contributors to the compiled sayings and actions of Muhammad. His daughters were held in high regard. The Prime Minister of Pakistan was a woman, the President of Indonesia was a woman. Queen Rania of Jordan currently does a lot for human, and women's rights.
