i was looking at statistics black americans have the lowest interracial marriage rates in the country. i read another article in which is stated that only 30% of black males have been involved in interracial relationship while only 15% of black females have been involved in interracial relationships.
ive come across some several black americans who had strong opposition towards such relationships
whats the reason?

I've especially heard from black females that they don't date interacially because the black community has so many issues and it cannot better by running to be with a white person

Well I have heard these statistics before and I think that its that people oppose the idea its just that a lot of people are either close-minded or there preference is just other black people. I don't have a problem with interracial relationships whether the person be a male or female and I think that as long as you are both happy then why should it be an issue.

I'm not against interracial marriages at all there's like a 98% chance that I'm going to marry someone that's not black... and i think the reason we have such a low interracial marriage percentage of interracial marriage is because theres such a negative image pinned to us and other races see that and they don't even want there kids to associate with us. My best friend is Filipino and her grandfather told her not to marry a black guys and the only real image he has of us are the ones he sees on t.v.. and one of her cousins got pregnant by a black guy and i guess he eventually left her .. or i think he was in the military and he left oversees and she never seen him again but how ever the story goes when ever some of the family members have parties the cousin is invited but her son is not !!! And of course just like any race black people have there perception of other reasons but when it comes down to if you aren't all stuck up and don't cause drama they'll accept you ... i have lots of cousins that are half white,half Filipino, half Mexican etc and i have some male cousins that just don't like dating black girls period

Ive commonplace so lots more effective black father and mother than white who oppose interracial something. As you can see from my avatar that I am a black women. My ex-husband was black and white and I have 3 beautiful children but he was a a##hole which is why he's my ex. My boyfriend now is white and we've been together for a year and a half and haven't been happier. I don't think people should see color it's just plain ignorant. If you have a preference fine, but don't judge your family and friends for who they date and don't tell them that it's not right there's someone for everyone! PEACE

Well, it is obviously ONLY a statistic - you can't possibly bet ur life on it. I would not even go there. Black - American culture is VERY open minded and deep. As long as ur real then they will give u a time of day.
My grandma is Black-American and married to an Irish/Italian man.

I think that black women get treated badly for dating anything other than black men, like I know black guys who fool around with all types of women... but if I just mention that someone who is not black is fine they act like they are insulted lol, I really think that most black women don't want to deal with all the drama that can come with it, really it is just easier being with another black person.

I don't understand why any black person would oppose interracial relationships. Its a chance for them to have a lighter skin baby. In the real world the darker you are the harder your life will be.

because for some blacks (not me i love inerracial dating)
it's not considered a right thing, some blacks just like dating in their own race more so than dating outside, me i'm an outsider there's love in every other race too don't be close minded (refering to the ignorant peep's).
