I will be in the United States Air Force, so it is inevidable that I am going to basic training either way. It is much better to do so willingly, rather than fighting for something you don't believe in. An unwilling soldier is a careless soldier, and a careless soldier is dangerous to those around him.
I am extremely against the war in Iraq, and I even am against the President. However, you need to think of all the things that this country has given you before just saying "no, I'm never going to serve." I am going to be in the Air Force because I really care about my country, and although I believe our leader is taking us into an undesirable direction, it is still our country. Our home. And I will put my life down to protect the freedoms we often take for granted. God bless.

first of all they will NEVER reinstate the draft, with today's technology there is no need to force people into service, with the weapons becoming more and more automated wars will be fought with a handful of operators. the only time you will need soldiers will be once we take over something or liberate some other country we will need ground forces to keep control of a region.
but if there ever was a crisis like a tank rolling up broadway in NYC just give me a gun and point me in the right direction. hu-rah

I would either:
A.) gain an absurdly unhealthy amount of weight (although the future draft would probably have a weight loss requirement or somesuch.)
B.) volunteer. I scored very well on my ASVAB in high school, and I really didn't even try. I'm sure if I studied I could get into intelligence analysis, or at the very least, a supply clerk.
(wait, the Bush administration has privatized nearly all non-combat roles in the ground forces, so I'm dead screwed.)

There will be no draft..
Why in the world would you think they would reinstate the Draft?
The military does not want the unwilling, uneducated, unwashed masses and doesn't need them.
Even Charlie Bangle didn't vote for his own offered bill about reinstating the draft.
It is just a democrat ploy to frighten children such as your self into hating America.

I happen to have the fortune to be immune to the draft, as I volunteered for military service and was discharged for medical reasons.
HOWEVER, if that were not the case, I would either seek political asylum in another country or just go to jail.
I value freedom. I will not be forced to do even things I would normally volunteer for. This is the exact opposite of the kind of thing I would fight for.

If I was an American, I'd go to jail.
Why fight when I don't even know what I'm fighting for?
Seriously... I'm as patriotic as the next person but when I'm going to be doing nothing but kill people for no reason and have it 'justified' by 'war on terror' and see fellow human beings suffer for no reason, especially women and children... Screw that. I don't see going to jail as backing down or being a coward. I'm standing up for what I believe is right.
Humanity.

I would gladly serve. Draft dodging p u s s i e s should be shot at the canadian border. You don't have to support a war or be a killer to serve your country. This country gives those draft dodging p u s s i e s the right to choose, and they should be greatful. After all this counrty has done for them serving time in the military is a small price to pay.
Additonally, what makes you so sure the draft is coming back. Also FYI I've worked at a jail, and it's far worse than combat.
Think about this: Would you rather serve your country and get paid for it, or go to prision and have to fight for your daily survival and get nothing for it.

I couldn't serve if I wanted to. I have a heart defect, hypomobility syndrome in my joints, arthritis, and mental illness. Oh and I'm almost legally blind. But if I didn't have anything wrong with me, I think I'd rather go to jail. I'd be fed, clothed, sheltered. Plus, I'd probably be Big Bertha's b*tch and the thought of that kinda turns me on. ;)

they wouldn't take me,
I have flat feet, horrible asthema, clinically *not there*
I have enough problems that the recruiter hung up on me.
and actually they would only draft women for the behind the lines job.
It causes to much of a problem on front lines. Military is trained in a pack mentality, if one goes down, you leave him there. Otherwise it'll bring down the whole pack. But if one of those soldiers was a women. Men wouldn't be able to leave her behind. It's just in our chemical make-up to protect women. And that would bring the whole troop down.
And in my town enough volunteers JUST signed up within January to fill an entire unit. So yeah, we do have enough volunteers they aren't re-instating the draft again.
