When George W Bush got to Purgatory Saddam was there to put him into logic predicament.

Saddam said: "You have there two doors. One leads to Hell, the other to Heaven. In front of one of them (not telling which) is one of your soldiers that, true to heart, always says the truth. In front of the other is one of my men that always lies. You can ask one of them a single question. Now figure yourself into Heaven."

How did W won this one over?

Ask one soldier which door the other soldier would tell him to go through. Then go through the other door.

For simplicity, assume guard A always lies, and guard B always tells the truth.

If Bush asked A which door B would say, A would think about B's answer (which would be the right door) and make it into a lie (the wrong door).

If Bush asked B which door A would say, B would think about A's answer (which would be the wrong door) and repeat it to Bush (the wrong door).

In either case, the answer you get is the wrong door. Therefore, just go through the other one and enter into Heaven.

This was in the 1980's movie "Labyrinth"

Anyone else remember that? Haha

Ask either soldier what the OTHER soldier would say is heaven. If one of them is always a liar, then you know its the wrong door!

Ask any one of the following:

"If I asked the other guy which door leads to Heaven, what would he answer?" (the answer leads to Hell, so pick the other door)

"IF I asked you which door leads to Heaven, what WOULD you answer?" (the answer leads to Heaven - this is NOT the same as asking "Which door leads to Heaven?"!)

also, arguably:
"Which door leads to the place where American soldiers go?" (the answer leads to Heaven)

Ask one of the guards what the other guard would say if asked where his door led: The honest guard would correctly tell you that the dishonest guard would say heaven; the dishonest guard would dishonestly say hell. So go through the door of the guard who tells you the other guard would say heaven.

If I asked you what door to enter heaven, which door would you say?
The one who always lies would have to lie about what he would say, and he would point to the correct door.
The one who always tells the truth would also point to the correct door.
