I am assuming that you really mean a roommate, not a girl or boy friend. I've had roommates for years and I prefer to have different schedules. With the last 3 roommates it just worked out that we would both be home together around every 3 or 4 weeks and usually we'd have a drink and talk about everything. Each of my roommates stayed at least 2 years, one 6 years and we all liked each other but we had our own lives. We helped each other out, like if someones car won't start, or one of us had an emergency or one of us lost our job I think we were there for each other, but it was always nice to have private time for myself.

different, i and my wife had different shifts and we got along great.
you got privacy and space and you can run around and do whatever fool thing you want as you have your freedom!
i am now not working and so is my wife and we are together 24 /7 and that sucks..big time..so enjoy the freedom if you can

definitely different hours. I love my alone time. Besides as they used to say....Too much togetherness breeds contempt.

depends on your relationship - and the space you share. You wants some lapse so you can make sure bills get paid.
