I have a ball python about 3 feet long and when I fed him last night, he acted like he was still hungry. I know the mouse we gave him was a little smaller than last week but should I feed him again, or should I wait until next week at the normal time?

If the mouse leaves a small bump in your snake then don't worry about feeding it again until the next feeding day. If not you may want to move up in prey size a bit or offer two mice. Also snakes will sometimes stay in 'hunting mode' for several hours after they eat. This isn't nesseccarily because they are still hungry.

Try him with another mouse. If he eats it, that's great. If not, you can remove the mouse and save it for next time, if you want. I have a 6' Honduran Milksnake, and occasionally he doesn't eat all the mice I give him. If there are some left by the next day (I let him hunt and kill them, rather than bag feed), I put a little feed in for them, and he'll eventually get around to eating them. Don't worry, I've never heard of a snake overeating.

I would suggest you don't worry to feed him again till next week. Yes, prey size does matter so if you know it can consume larger mice then stick to those.

However, be logical when feeding your snake. Snakes such as pythons are shutdown feeders and are used to eating large INFREQUENT meals. So stick to your regular feeding regime and if you feel like stagnating it even more you can - so long as you remember to feed the snake more mice if the time between meals has increased.

Good question...easy answear...if he is hungery he will eat agian..if he isnt he won't. Just put another mouse in his cage and see if he is interested. If he is hungery it shouldnt take more then a min. for him to strike. if not take the mouse out and save it for a later feeding.

wait. the great thing about snakes is that you can actually go quite a while w/out feeding. unless you are actively breeding, don't worry about it.
