My sister's husband has recently put on about 20 lbs. She's not very happy about it cuz she says he's a little heavy in the bed, if you know what I mean?! She asked me how to tell him to lose some weight and I have no clue! Anyone have any suggestions?

She does cook healthy meals because she's very weight conscience herself. He just eats way too much and is always snacking. They have kids so it's kind of hard for her to eliminate all snacks, and the kids prefer healthy stuff too! He just seems to think that the weight gain is ok!

I don't think she should come right and tell him to lose weight. How would she feel if he told her the same thing? She could exercise with him, or when groceries are bought, buy healthy low fat foods, especially if she does the cooking, he probably won't even notice. As for him being a little heavy on her in bed, she might want to take the initiative to try different positions. He won't know the reason why, and may think that it's hot all at the same time.

Why doesn't she encourage him to lose the weight? She can watch what he eats, make sure she keeps healthy food and snacks in the house. Maybe she could start asking him to take a walk with her every evening. All she can do is encourage him, he's not going to do it unless he wants to. Wait until she has a baby, then she'll see what happens when the shoe is on the other foot (so to speak). But she needs to remember those marriage vows "for better, for worse." And him gaining 20 lbs isn't very "worse."

Your sister is wrong. She better hope the tables never turn and she is the one who has gained weight. The most common deterioration of any relationship is weight gaining. If your sister loved that man before than she should still love him now. Otherwise, she was in love with his looks. Perhaps you should offer your sister a room to stay in when her husband dumps her superficial butt. Thank you.

Your sister and her husband have a problem, you don't. And if she cannot convince him that it is in his best interests to not join Obese America, it really is not your concern..... What he as to figure out himself, is why he wishes to pack around all that extra weight, putting himself at risk for all the diseases that obesity increase -- diabetes, joint failure, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, yaydaydadyay... Hon, it's not your concern, it is theirs... tell her to grow some brass ovaries, and have a chat with him..........

I would say that she should try to do some activities that he can get excercise, but for them to do it together.
Tennis, biking, etc.
Try to make healthier meals for dinner-say that she is concerned about both of their health and that she wants to make sure that they are in the best tip top shape.
Or just tell him and still do all the things mentioned above!
