I understand why people would worry or find it odd. If you were to say there was any flirting or intimacy then definitely the red flags would go up. If it is friends only, then he is taking on a father role and I don't think it should be a problem. Just be very careful. I don't know how well you know him, but be watchful, and get out of it if it changes toward being more than friends only.

The fact that you are 19 and he is 46 is going to make people question the relationship. If you claim you are only friends, there is nothing wrong, however there isn't much common ground between 19 and 46. You need to take a step back and look at it through their eyes. It does look odd to outsiders looking in. This is something that you either need to deal with or call off the friendship. You are old enough now to understand that there are going to be people out there who isn't going to like what you do. This is your test as an adult to know how to handle those people. You are the one who has to deal with the looks and the talking behind your back. Thank you and good luck.

It would seem a bit weird for him to just want to hang out with a 19 yr old or does he have kids maybe he wants you to be his, could he be a family friend?.....but yes I can see it because when I was younger I did hang out with older men nothing ever happened because I didn't want or let it. It is good you have someone to talk to but give your parents some credit they do want to help too.

He wants to screw you.

No self respecting 40 something is going to find the brain of a 19 year old in any way stimulating.

Your hoo hoo however.....

I don't think there's anything wrong with it. He helps you out with your issues and isn't that what a friend is?

Not a problem. If age doesn't matter when you are in love,
Why should it matter in a friendship????
