I have couple of treatments, that may help, but it will not hurt so no harm in trying.

Looks like his optic nerve has degenerated and it is degenerating further.
Treatments are mainly for helping him see batter. None of this will cure or improve the nerve problem.
Hopefully in few years, some new discovery will be made or nerve transplant only from dead body will be performed.
At this time healthy eyes are harvested and implanted with nerve and all but no one has thought about harvesting healthy nerve only from unhealthy eyes also.
1. This treatment keeps his eyes clean and clear and lubricated.
Buy a proper size eyes washing glass. Wash the glass with clean water, drinking water is fine. The water should be cold-colder the batter, fill the eye glass with this cold water, hold the glass full of cold water in one hand and bending the head down at neck and at same time bring the glass to the eye. Open and close the eye as it is submerged in the water little time. Throw this water away, fill the glass with more clean water and repeat the washing procedure at least three times. Now do the same to next eye.
Wash the eyes as needed or few times a day. I say at least 5 times a day. When he gets up in the morning. when he goes to bed at night. Before every meals.
Workings:
The cold water tightens the eye muscles that control the shape of the eye lens. These muscles get weak over the years of use. This muscle actually help eye lens focus the image on the eye retina.
Principle:
We cannot do any thing about the nerve, but we can sure improve other parts and the functions in the eye, by doing so improve the total vision to some extent.
2. This treatment is base on same principle.
Take two pieces of white plain paper 2in by 2in square. Take a black or dark blue pen and put a small a dot in the center of both piece of paper.
Pin one piece of paper with a dot on a wall at eye level.
Move back about 100 ft. from the wall. Mark the spot of future use.
Stand at this spot put down the other piece of paper at the toe.
Standing at this spot you are ready to exsersise your eye.
Exercise:
We will call this far and near Exercise.
Keep both eyes open but block one with a piece of back or white cardboard.
Look at the dot on the wall bring it in focus. Count 1-20 must keep dot in the focus.
Quickly look down at the other piece of paper bring the dot in the focus. Count 1-20 must keep dot in the focus.
Again quickly look at the dot on the wall bring it in focus. Count 1-20 must keep dot in the focus.
Repeat it 20 times. Few times a day, best time mornings and evenings.

Make sure you eat a multi vitamin like One A Day or Centrum. Carrots are good for eyesight. Almonds are also good for eyesight no wonder God made almonds in shape of an eye.

eat carrots, they have some vitamin in their that helps with eyesight. But I'm honeslty not sure if you can undo eyesight damage. Also don't read things with low lighting, make sure its very bright. And don't stare at bright things too much, like telivision screens and computer screens.

I have certainly heard that carrots (or the beta-corrantene(SP?) in them) can help improve eyesight, but you never know, that may just be what my Grandma told me to get me to eat my carrots. Or it just may be that it prevents the degeneration of your quality of eyesight overtime.
Wearing sunglasses outdoors and avoiding lots of artificial and florescent lights ( like office lights or the computer screen that you are currently staring at) can also help prevent degredation of your eyesight.

I heard you should avoid eyestrain...as in staring at a computer all day. Take breaks and look away every 15 minutes. That will preserve your eyesight some.

yes but not much
its more a prevention rather than improving
but eye convergence excercises do help
proper light and distance does between eyes and object helps
fruits rich in vit A may be useful
avoiding prolonged exposure to light like tv, pc must be undertaken for better eye sight
