That depends on what subject and what exam board.....
Could you be a bit more specific =)
For example, for maths, 50% - 65% is a B for the WJEC board (Welsh Joint Education Committee)
and then for History - a B is 60% - 69% and that's for the Edexcel board.
a B is never higher than 80% though in GCSEs - anything over 80% is either an A or an A* depending on the subject
Those are some examples from my GCSEs
Tell me what subject and what exam board you are doing for that subject and I'll try and help

This varies. at first, as 2 previous responders notice, it relies upon on the tier. Secondly, a uncooked mark would not fix the grade. truly (skipping over all info of moderation and assessment) the boards, engaged on the muse that each and each 365 days-cohort will carry out extra or less as nicely simply by fact the previous ones, place all applicants in one rank order from the genius with ninety 9% right down to the banana with a million%. the best percentiles then get A*, the subsequent team A etc. Thirdly, there is modest yet useful government rigidity to permit the numbers achieving good grades to strengthen 365 days on 365 days, on the unfounded assumption that the colleges and students are in fact appearing extra appropriate and extra appropriate. simply by fact the papers are no longer now getting a lot easier (different than in technology, the place there is likewise rigidity to maintain up the numbers taking the examination) this means that marking might desire to be easier, grade limitations decrease, or the two. extra or less, the % given via before responders are life like, yet for those motives won't be able to be suitable.

It will depend on the board and the average level of answers that year but I used to say that 60% would be just on the B border up to 69. Some practical subjects would be up to 79% though.

Typically on a higher tier entry (not intermediate) it is about 60-75%. Thhis applies to most subjects and exam boards because i am working with AQA , Edexcel and OCR and the percentages are about this.

it really depends bcos i remember when i did GCSE's maths they lowered the grade boundries bcos people got lower marks on the paper. on average 70% is an A but you can find out from his teachers that your best bet, they're more likely to know.
