Ok this is my third pregnancy.. second child. I went and got a facial today.. where i layed on back, but had pillows supporting my back... and that was for about 25-30 min facial. When I got up i was a little uncomfortable and started to have pain on both sides of my lower abdomen... they are not contractions and they are not braxton hicks.. i know what both of them feel like. I have been drinking water all day and its like if i get up and walk around they hurt, i tried taking a bath, went away until I got out, tried laying down but if i move around they will start to hurt again... so its constant mild pain on each side unless i move around and stuff... i have never had this pain before, called l&d and they said to call back if i had pain still in an hour, i took tylenol also... but nothing is helping... even laying down doesn't help me.. has anyone else experienced this kind of pain... i mean it is just weird and sometimes sharp.. dpends on how i move... help! thanx

I'm 27 weeks pregnant and the baby is moving around fine. I did call labor and delivery and they were the ones who told me to take two tylenol, soak in the tub and to call them if it was still constant... they did tell me it could be my ligaments stretching out for the baby and that this happens sometimes.. but both sides hurt equally... one side doesn't hurt more then the other side... and they said that is a little odd and to call them back... but so far my pain has stopped and i do have an appt on thursday with my doc so since my pain has gotten better I'll wait to talk to him about the rest... so thanks for your answers and i wish some of you would have actually read my question all the way through before responding b/c i stated facts in their that you questioned me about... but thanks to everyone else

Are you feeling movement from the baby?? You didn't mention how far along you are. I'm 33wks now with my second baby and while I didn't experience it with my first, I get a weird pain/feeling also sometimes. Because the doctor has been checking baby's position, I know that right now the baby's head is against my left hipbone with feet up around my bellybutton area. And when it gets to moving or trying to change position, I get a weird pain/feeling and sometimes a sharp pain on the left side. When I get up and move around, it usually gets better. My baby was laying side to side though, so if that is the case for you, its possible that you are getting headbutts on one hip and kicked on the other hip. The doctor told me that I could "encourage" the baby to get in better positioning by getting on my knees and elbows so my butt is in the air. I've done it a couple of times while watching TV when the baby gets too uncomfortable, and it seems to help but these little boogers can move and move and move so you might get comfy and then your baby will readjust. Hope nothing serious and if it is your baby's position, I hope this will help you too.

i think what you might be describing are the ligaments stretching. im now 32 weeks pregnant. but a couple months ago, i was at work and all of a sudden, i got this pain in my side. sometimes sharp, sometimes just mild, sometimes not there at all. but it kept coming back, and laying, sitting, curling up in a ball, nothing helped. i went to the ER after having them for about an hr and the dr said that everything was fine, just sometimes if you stand for long pds of time, or change positions, the ligaments can become sore b/c they are stretching. but, i would listen to your dr also. if the pain is still there and youre worried, i would go to the drs. i hope everything is all right! good luck!

The more pregnancies you have the weaker your abdominal muscles get. I had 6 children and was pregnant 4 times and the last 2 were so painful that sometimes just walking a few feet I was in tears..Feels kinda like someone is pulling your muscle on both sides and it goes into the groin...See a chiropractor, mine helped me during my last 2 pregnancies.

I'm not sure how far along you are but the pain I experienced was because my placenta was separating from my wall. Which can be dangerous, I guess, but I just had to go in for an ultrasound to have that determined and then just had to relax. My son was kicking me so hard I was badly bruised internally as well, which they think might of caused some of it. Good luck.

i've been going through the same thing and i'm pregnant with my second daughter. i went to the hospital because they pain was just intense at time and dull but noticable at other times. the nurses said that it could be bladder infection which it wasn't and then she checked me and i was dialated so all they could say was that it was the baby sitting lower in my abdomen. they told me to get some rest and come back if my water broke or the pains became regular.

Can be a gas/ wind pain. Remember that the baby is using a lot of your food.

Do not take tabs unless you absolutely have too, and if you do, get a doc to prescribe.

Instead try an antacid or something like Andrews. It should work. If not eat dry crackers to absorb the gas. Worked for me.

Sounds like the weight of the baby against your spine may have pinched a nerve.

i would ask your dr. when you lay on your back the weight of the baby is pushing on veins and makes it hard to breath. thats why they say lay on your side. i layed on my back for 27 hrs of labor and everything was ok.

maybe the baby is trying to position itself and because of that you are experiencing pain.
