Look, if you don't like industrial Essex and those parts of Kent opposite, just say so. Stop casting aspersions about places of which you obviously know very little. Nearly all of the places you mention did wonderful work during the second world war and later became successful as housing estates built to rehouse the Londoners who had been bombed out of their homes whilst fighting and working to save the country for the likes of YOU, so don't come out with your silly and obnoxious remarks about not only the places, but the people who now have to live there - your "chavs" I presume.

People who keep on asking questions like this get to have a complete directory of the whole country - and seem to want to know the ins-and-outs of the monkeys bottom of all parts, and it's getting very boring now.

Tilbury ,Dagenham East, Dagenham Heathway, Becontree, Barking, Gascoigne.

As for the other 3. For those that don't know, most of Belverdere is not only got a lot of Woodland (think Bostal Woods & Abbey Woods) but most, if not ALL the houses are owned with a lot of the older generantions populating this area, although saying that, more and more youger home buyers are moving in that way.
Erith is just full of tower blocks, but again, there is a lot of building, regeneration and new homes going up and around the place for people to BUY, as it is right on the route of Bluewater and Green hythe which are very up and coming areas due in part to the homes being wthin the commuter belt (my friend trebled the price of her flat in 1 year there in Greenhythe).

As for Thamesmead, again it depends WHICH part of Thamesmead you are talking about, Lower (which is down and around by the Thames, past Belmarsh Prison, kinda next to Woolwich and down a bit from the Royal Arsenal. Or over a bit more towards the East (and Erith way), where there is a lot of regeneration going on to include lots of wildlife spaces and open green areas.

Whoever said Charlton are completely nutts !! Charlton is quite nice and quaint beleive it or not. ANH HAS A FANTASTIC FOOTBALL CLUB !!!!
If anything Woolwich is the scum of all scum places. Just think of Little Somalia and its there, right in Woolwich. But then I blame the council for that and sticking them all in the one place sticking them on that little housing estate just off of Angelsea Road (I think it is) Opposite the Post Office !!!

As for the Chaviest, God mate, you should Look at Dartford and even Bromley if you are looking at Chav !!! Oh and Bexleyheath too !!! Although nice, the young girls and boys are just a bit on the CHAV side !!!

Of the ones you have listed, whilst I haven't been to Belvedere/Erith, I did have the misfortune of having been to Thamesmead and can testify that it is a complete s**t whole, so I'd imagine its near neighbours are also as bad. Barking is better, without the scary tenements but never the less rather run down and miserable.
If I could contribute a few: Bermondsey, Willesden, Abbey Wood, Tottenham, South Norwood, Tooting.

How could I possibly choose between that lot! Ugh. I would put in a good word for Upper Belvedere though. It isn't bad at all - not like Lower Belvedere, which I agree is revolting!
Erith - not twinned with anywhere, but it does have a suicide pact with Dagenham (joke courtesy of Linda Smith).

The chaviest factors you ought to favor to visit are contained in the prompt section outside of London. Dartford is a good party of Chavesville in case you question me, rather Blue Water, which seems continuously to be finished of fat women human beings in tight setting up purple tracksuits and huge affordable close to gold ear earrings. # certain yet, no yet, etc. Edit: Ben c above is incorrect - the birthplace of the chav is Chatham in Kent, it is were the be conscious first got here to prominence. Chav initially got here from the Romaney Language and merely stuck. Now it is contained in the OED for God's sake.

Kentish Town, spiritual home of the North London chav. Forget all the bollocks about it being bohemian, on the border of Camden Town (which is even dirtier) and a stone's throw from Islington, it is an out and out shithole.

Before I even opened your question I was thinking Dagenham! (No offence to anyone living there), we used to visit someone in Dagenham and it was SOOOOOOOOOOOO DEPRESSING!!! I used to call it 'the engine room of life' I was always so glad to get away from there. I'm not sure what part of Dagenham it was but it wasn't far from tons of industrial stuff!

Why isn't Woolwich on the list?? It's depressing as hell. I used to live in Plumstead and after moving to Wood Green I never went back.
