OK, in math you can multiply both sides of an equation by the same number and it will still be true.
So, 2+2 = x and we want to prove x = 5
Well, (2+2)*0 = x*0
If x is 5, this is still true:
(2+2)*0 = 5*0
so x must equal 5.

A long time ago people used to think that 2+2=5 because if you take two ropes, both with 2 knots each, and tie them together you wold end up with 5 knots.

Easy....
Open a new workbook in Excel.
In the box A1 type 2.26
in the box A2 type 2.26
Highlight both boxes and using the "Decreased Decimal" tab, lower the decimal to the whole number.
In Box A3 use the auto sum tab and add the two numbers.
You will get 2+2=5
But it still isn't correct...

First, what is your number system? Then what is the geometry you are considering? In some instances 2 + 2 = 5, is possible.
The previous answer is hilarious. X multiplied by zero is zero, therefore X is an UFO.

you say that the 2+2 part is simplified and that it's original form is truly 2.499999999999999999999999999999~+2.4999999999999999~
=5 thus in this case it would be true so BAM there you go. so go back to school.

The "proof" is a false proof, as it requires division by zero (which is undefined) in order to "prove" it.
