Algodon means cotton.
Just inside the area of Cadiz is a little white washed village called Algodonales which it is said, took its name many years ago from the thriving cotton industry.
There is a workshop in Algodonales of the renowned guitar maker Valeriano Bernal, whose beautiful instruments are sought after by many of the leading classical and flamenco guitarists in Spain

Because of its Spanish meaning, "Algodon" is the name of a company which sells various cotton goods including first-aid supplies.
