I have to work and develop skills and attend training in order to get a raise within the company I work for, so why do minimum wage workers get a raise for doing nothing?

unfortunately no... with an increase in minimum wage, we all take a decrease in relative pay.

become minimum wage is BULL! i worked making a lil above minimum wage and was still BEARLY making rent each month! it's not how people should live!! and a lot of workers working the minimum wage DO have to "work and develop skills". i've worked fast food for quite some time and belive me even though it WAS easy i did do work and didn't ever "get a raise for doing nothing". also did you ever think maybe you should rexpect minimum wage workers because they are doing a job you don't want to do, and since they are doing it you don't have to.

Minimum wage workers do "nothing?"

Do you know the last time minimum wage workers got a "raise?" Ten years ago. How would you feel if you got a raise in pay once every ten years at the company you work for?

You begrudge people $2.10 per hour? You make me sick.

The "raise" you are speaking of is deals more with the economy..the minimum wage hike is meant to deal with inflation.

Traditionally, when the minimum wage has raised, other persons salaries has raised by the same percentage. Mine always was. If your company doesn't do that, then that's a problem with your company, not with the people who work at minimum wage.

They are not doing nothing. They are working the jobs that I thank God that I do not have to work. Minimum wage is barely enough to keep food on their tables. When the price of milk, for ex., goes up minimum wage has to go up so those people can afford it. You should feel lucky that you do not have to work a minimum wage job.
Don't begrudge them a little extra income so they can try and stay afloat.

because minimum wage should be just that...a starting wage that someone can have and helps pay for the minimum expences which it barely does that at all now...by the Way Senator Schumer in NY Co-sponsored that bill yet he could not find time to vote on that same bill...something is not right when that happens

Because inflation increases, as does your cost of living. Minimum wage has to reflect the cost of living.

These people do work hard for their wage, granted they may not posses the skill level some of us do. They are entitled to make a wage reflective of the cost of living.

Your on a higher tier than the unskilled labor force in your area and if you want to keep working yourself up the corporate ladder you have to keep sharpening your skills by attending classes

Because politicians don't work for a living and have no idea what it is like to have your pay cut (because the cost of everything will go up) and NOT get a raise. They get theirs every single year and will be paid for the rest of their LIVES, on my dime.

Ain't America great!
